Are daggers viable to clear the game with?
I've been using the Bandit's Knife in my current playthrough, and I just reached the Crucifixion Woods. I was really happy to get the Farron Coal so I can infuse my weapon with Sharp, but it only raised my DEX scaling to a C... This leads me to believe that my damage is gonna fall off hardcore later on. Should I switch to another weapon if I intend to go a Dex/Luck build?

And as a side note, is Luck worth leveling for the higher chance to Bleed/Poison? Unfortunately when I level Luck, I'm not able to see any improvements in that area.

The weapon might become B scaling after upgrading into +4 or +5

They might make it hard on enemies you can't backstab/parry for whatever reasons.
But other than that, why not.

No reach, no dmg, no staggering.

This is what I thought too. When I looked up the weapon on the wiki, the scaling stays D/D all the way to +10.

And why bother with that, how much more backstab dmg it's gonna have than a normal weapon.

Sharp Dagger has S scaling in dex and 130 base crit damage. I haven't tested that, but might do more than some other regular weapons, since most only have 100 crit damage.

Point is: You can still do decent damage and definitely complete the game with a Dagger.

It makes the game a real challenge but it can be fun if thats what you want to do. Any weapon or build is viable to clear but only if you are willing to use it and enjoy it at the same time. The daggers get the step ability that can be used as many times as you wish, even if your FP guage is drained. You can use it to get through some areas faster because it is faster than a roll or you can use it to run circles around your enemy and slowly cut them to death.

In my first playthrough, I used Sword and Shield, which I feel was too easy since I was depending on my 100% physical guard shield to protect me from pretty much everything.

I was kind of hoping I could ditch the shield and go a really aggressive build, and the Bandit's Knife was filling that role for me. I just want a weapon that can keep that hectic close-quarters style going.

Even if it does, that's not a good trade off.

This is what I wanted to hear. Awesome.

I tried looking up the Dagger on the wiki, but I just got a blank page. It's good to know there's a Dagger that has great scaling. :)

First time fighting skeletons with bleed shotels, I didn't realize they had bleed shotels. Relying on blocking isn't always good :p

Not sure if you only reach S upon maxing it though, maybe.

also, luck increases drop rates from what I have seen and doesn't do anything else. I may be wrong though

I just infused a Dagger with Sharp, and the DEX Scaling is A already. This pretty much fills my needs, thanks everyone
