I prefer having my casting things in my left with my sword in right, simply because I always liked how it looks.
Pyro hand in left opens up the l2 combust, but I don't think it does much damage.
The free combustion is nice, but that only frees up a spell slot (not that big of a deal really). Being able to block then punish with a manually-attuned combustion seems to make more sense to me.
However, with the glove in my right, my element of surprise is gone, and that seems like it could be a big factor in PvP if the glove was in my left hand. In other words, am I going to strike or cast a fireball/combustion? Does it really matter though?
Additionally, I still wonder about a hypothetical combo sort of deal where I could hit and stun with my right weapon, and do some close range pyromancy with my left that wouldn't really hit otherwise. That's pretty much the kicker. Then again, in that situation, you could just keep hitting with your right weapon post stunlock.
The only reason I'm really asking so much is because I made my character different on his right side assuming that was gonna be his glove side. XD
