also you might want to try rolling as something else for the beginning and then respecing for a fist class later on.
its not fun losing because your build literally cannot function in the early game.
yeah, I think I am just going to rock battle axe until I can at least get the demon fist. caestus just can't cut it anymore. one l1 is like 88 damage. ain't no body gonna die from that.
yeah it feels pretty bad. I liked to pride myself on doing unconventional stuff purist wise all the way through, but DS3 makes it a chore, and not so much a fun challenge to undertake.
Clearing DS II with just a greatshield was a fun challenge, and never felt like a chore. going caestus was the same way, and you could even make it work in DS1, but definitely not in this one. you can't beef it up fast enough to harm anything, with the new super armor and hit speed and everything.
Before I started leveling again I was sitting at 40 STR/FTH with 35 in VGR/END. You want a decent bit of END so you can spam, and a fair amount of health so you can survive a hit. The weapon scales of STR/INT/FTH STR the most so. It's all about dodging, and being careful. Though some enemies it just won't work on like the Dancer Of The Boreal Valley. She's just nigh impossible to hit and flails way too much.
