If you are focused on Anri's quest, in the end it makes no difference if you tell her or not depending on whether or not you killed Horace. If you don't kill Horace, and tell her, she will go to Smouldering Lake where he will kill her and end the quest. If you don't kill Horace, and don't tell her (causing her to skip Smouldering Lake), you can finish her quest fine but I believe they both appear hollow at the Cathedral afterwards. If you do kill Horace, telling her doesn't change anything aside from where you fight her when she goes hollow after you finish her quest (Cathedral of the Deep if you didn't, or Smouldering Lake if you did), and if you did tell her she will also put a gravestone for him in Smouldering Lake, and that's it. Either way she succumbs to the fate of Hollowing, which was going to happen anyway (you'll see if you follow Yuria).
I am aware I do have the achievement for it.
No it isn't it's literally another branch of Anri's story. One is to keep them away/alive from the statue pilgrim which eventually leads to their hollow/death anyways. The other is to allow the pilgrim to get Anri and prepare them for the Usurp ending which they are a key character for thus it is part of their possible story.
ie Just because Anri has another branch involving Aldrich doesn't mean the other route isn't part of another branch for her/him.
Just so you know Anri dies no matter what if you save him/her. They eventually go hollow and you kill them.
