Honestly, I would just up your item discovery and farm them on the stairs to twin princes.
I probably get anywhere from 1-3 per full clear of that long stairwell, which takes less than a couple minutes. Far cheaper than what it would cost to buy them with souls.

Not true. Souls are limiting at first but if you try to get all achievements you'll be swimming in souls. Farming the silver knights for Darkmoon items for example got me millions of souls for each proof of concord kept. I started spending it on sh!t like 600 poison mosses because I didn't know what to do with it.

Dupe boss souls then buy from handmaiden, they're expansive though.

Or you know, do both. Farm them and spend the souls from farming on more chunks

Ya, which is what I do. Run it a few times, get 10+ chunks and enough souls to level, go home, level up, buy chunks with the leftovers.
