Don't get worked up over something like that man, it's not worth it. If it was doing weird stuff close up or in the middle of combat, I'd get more irritated, but not for that long distance texture popping that only happens once in a long while.
Once in a long while? I assume you wore a blindfold in the crucifiction woods then?
I can see that location having that come up due to the distance you can see. But, as I said, I have not had a lot of it happen, or if it did it was too inconsequential to bother remembering it. The few times I can readily recall was pretty apparent though, like not too far in front of me, or I happened to be facing the direction that it happened.
Its not actually texture popping per se, its more like pop-in resulting from a VERY short LOD distance.
The game is just the ps4 version with the 30fps cap lifted (though ironically they probably should have left it there since the game's fps is so unstable). There are no pc optimisations whatsoever.
Since it wont be fixed anyway it is not worth to discuss it all over again. wont change anything.
same here, 1080, 5820k cpu at 4.6ghz and 32gb ddr4.
the worst culprit for it is catacombs for me. texture popping everywhere.....
Nobody can create anything close to that without From whipping out softbans.
dsfix went unoticed by From in ds1 becuase they never gave a crap about softbans etc.
Then when 2 came along, and peolple tried stuff like enb mods etc, then they got banned.
Plus, dsfix was only able to fix resolution problems etc, dark souls 3's main problem is that the cpu utilisation is awful and the lod scaling is shorter than a toddler's attention span. No modder can fix that.
I belive they could increase visibility range, and texture distance, therefore meaning the textures pop in at a less noticeable difference, similar to mods for skyrim and witcher etc
Possible, but the texture recycling is an issue inherent to the phyre engine. Its been there since 2000 believe it or not. We're not playing a ps3 emulation here. Fromsoft don't seem to realise that.
Sometimes it's there (fast travel to the woods and look at trees...), but sometimes not...
But the worse, it's that it was fixed with 1.04, as microfreezes, but they're back with 1.05...
A proof that FROM doesn't know at all what they're doing....
It's a bad port, perfectly playable, but a lack of polish which is very apparent...
U can't with existent hardware have 60fps 100% of the time, even with 6700k/1080 gtx...
And this popin is cherry on the cake...
these technical flaws made me stop playing.... hoping for a magic patch which will never come...
FROM, your game is awesome, but a technical mess...

Ironically Dark Souls 2 (which miyazaki had no hand in) runs like a dream.
The trouble is their core audience are console owners who will play at 10fps if they must and still kiss their asses. No reason in the world to fix it for us.
Netcode's also ♥♥♥♥♥♥ too. The stutter is due to some kind of anti cheat mechanism that they're constantly tweaking with each "patch". Who cares about cheaters when the netcode is so bad?
very true, console versions run as low as 15 fps in some areas, and in other console games 20fps is the norm (I own a ps4 and x bone too) and nobody cares that it's such a terrible framerate, it looks horrendous and gives me massive eye strain/headaches.
net code is the worst it's ever been, how can I log on ds1/2 and see summon signs everywhere, get invasions in seconds regardless of sl (or soul memory) etc.
yet ds3 has the same players combined of ds1 and 2, yet invasions are 20 min waits sometimes, barely any summoned signs anywhere? this is btw
sl150 +10, sl40+4, Sl80+7 and sl100. all the same issues ...
