No problem, I do appreciate you elaborating. Specifically, I'm statting for Katanas which are STR/DEX.
But my question is, is there a stat I should prioritize putting points into when building a Dex character? I mean should I start dumping points into Endurance, Vigor, or Vitality once I hit 20 Dex? I just don't think I'm building my character correctly. I tend to go straight for 40 when doing a Str based character, which hasn't been too difficult, but I feel like there's a better way to go about it with Dex.
May I ask for a cheeky screenshot of your stats currently so I can get an idea of what level you are, etc? Sorry if thats too much trouble!
I'll show you a calculator screenie, might be easier. Knight class, 4 into Vigor, 5 into Endurance, 20 into Dex so far.
Current stats:

Alright, that's the impression I was getting too. I was thinking of dumping some points into Vigor next, maybe Endurance first.
Good to know. I'm messing around the with the calculator for what I'd like to aim for end game, some I've come up with:
27 Vig (1k health)
Att 10
End 40
Vit 20 (may not need much if I focus on rolling and not wearing heavy armor)
Str 27 (unsure about this one)
Dex 40 (katana damage scaling)
Int 9
Fth 30 (Lightning Blade? Could be useful)
Lck 7
Thoughts?
40 End is not needed. You would be better off going 40 Vigor if thats the case. Faith sucks, lemme tell ya that. I went a miracle build and totally regretted it.
Yeah I went Paladin build (Dex/faith). Im not sure about later spells but Lightning Blade sucks, and most of the miracles I had took ages to cast and it did 200-300 damage.. totally not worth it.
Good idea. Also if you arent going for a STR build then 27 STR is too much :) might wanna just dump some in DEX or VIT
Say you have 300 HP and you're hardest enemy does 400 damage per attack. You want to be able to survive at least two attacks, so you would want to bring your HP to 800 right? Wrong. Even 401 HP is enough to allow you to survive 2 hits, so why would you waste the points on Vigour to go any higher when you could put it in something else? Unless you wanted to survive 3 hits, in which case you would need just 801 HP. Point is, this is the situation where you might find yourself with extra points that you may not know what to do with, because the rest of your stats are soft-capped (to avoid diminishing returns) - so these misc. points, you could then dump into Faith or whatever for a slight damage boost to your buffs or whatever (combined with the Ring(s) that raise the power of your choice if you want more).
Same with Endurance. Just put enough to get the number of attacks you need, with enough for a roll to escape. You only need 1 point of stamina to perform any action, no matter how much it uses initially, sop as long as you have 1 point of stamina at the end of your preferred combo to roll out, then stop there! Use the points elsewhere.
You can respec 5 times per run with a certain covenant, so don't be afraid to experiment.
