SPELL CASTERS ARE NOT BALANCED IN DARK SOULS 3
If you are getting consistant wins as a Spell Caster, Consider yourself a God in this game right now, because there is no greater challenge. Trying to win 5-10 PVP duels in a row as a caster is more difficult than any boss in this entire game. To even the playing field you HAVE to use some sort of physical weapon. You can NOT rely upon just spells. This is for PVP and PVE. Where as Physical damage users do not even require a shield, let alone some sort of magic additive.

Spell casting is slow. Spell tracing is slow. Spell damage is low. - This being in comparison to PHYSICAL damaging weapons, that can attack IMMEDIATELY after rolls, have INCREASINGLY more stun-lock capability, and REQUIRE NO REFILLS from potions.

It's fine though. I will continue as a spell caster, why? because apparently every. single. person. has. decided. not. to.

I'm done.

Or you're just not good enough? You have magic straight sword, greatsword and UGS, homing missiles, magic that you can delay and force player to roll so you can punish them...etc. It's definitely more technical way of play and casters don't seem to be very succesful against my Havel shield but they're definitely not weak.

Wow, you have to learn to press a button other than R1. Such a shame, I shall weep for you

Its true that magic was nerfed pretty hard. You cant 1 shot everyone in pvp with one climax anymore. Sad times these are.

Spells do the same amount of damage as my estoc, but cost fp, so i end up just using my estoc (30 faith and int using great deep soul). Not to mention, your physical defence is pretty much gone if you wanna increase your spells attack power. You also ahve to allot ashen estus. What's that? Use healing spells? Only use half of my fp to gain 1/4 my hp back and it takes 4 seconds to do that? Nty i'd rather take the estus.

dont compare something normal to something op

The only way to truly balance this is to make a stamina potion. If melee users have to DRINK something to continue attacking, they will divide their total amount of HEALS. same way spell casters have to.

Whoever came up with this game concept needs to kill themselves because they've managed to ruin something that is so simple.

Maybe they didn't want you cheesing with JUST spells amd wanted to see more diverse builds. Maybe they DID think this through.

The biggest complaint I have towards magic in this game is how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful split damage is. The MLGS (one of my favorite weapons in 1) was a very solid weapon in every Souls game except this one. I was really excited when I saw Darkmoon bow was making a return in this game.

Then I shot a couple arrows and saw I was doing worse damage than just about any other bow in the game.

I'd rather have the dark magic of DS1 back than this garbage.

Spell casting also consume stamina.

Spell casters have never been balanced in the Souls games. They're usually too weak. For half of 2's life they were so ridiculously OP they had to nerf lightning and hexes into the ground just to make the game slightly balanced, and they were still incredibly strong just less spammable.

Sorcery in particular has always been a mixed bag, usually requiring a huge investment for comparitively little payoff compared to miracles, or especially pyromancy. Or even just smacking a dude in the face with a sword. Even in PVP, I never saw a sorcerer and went "Oh, this will be a hard fight" I'd go "Oh man this is fun" and then smash his face in when he tried to cast a spell.

At least you have some easy way to recover spells now. In prior games items that restored spell uses were relatively rare and if you ran out during an important fight you had to choose between using your small stockpile of spell restoring items and hope nothing harder came up before you hit the next rest point, or trying to go into melee. And god help you if you ran into an invader and ran out of spells.

dude you want to get stun locked always? becose thats how you'd get stun locked always....

about magic. it was super underpowered even in Dark Souls 2.
some people (noobs) complained about magic being OP and it just got randomly nerfed.
its not like you could easily roll out of any damaging spell, or you could get some magic damage absorption if you can't roll properly. or even use a shield. there were plenty of shields with 100% absorbtion, you could get 100% absorption to a single magic type even without shield, its like ok dude let me adjust my rings and you do 0 damage to me. good luck with your limited casts that don't even do enough damage to kill me anyway.
I played a battle mage had like 70% absorption to all and it was fun fighting a mage in pvp. even if hit me with crystal soul spear it would do like 300 damage max to me and that was if he hit me.

and they nerfed magic even more in Dark Souls 3 now you dont even have to roll to dodge spells you can walk away and they got their damage nerfed... i just switched to physical damage its much easyer to play and more relyable.

Magic is balanced. It wasn't in DS2.
