Gwyn also united against the Dragons with the aid of unlikely beings such as Nito, First of the Dead, The Witches of Izalith, and even Seathe, who had betrayed his own kind.
Even if Artorias was unmatched in the use of a Greatsword, Gwyn proved that he could do far more without one to unite with such unlikely allies against the Dragons with the Strength of Lords. (which is arguable to say they were strong but couldn't quite deal with them until a certain Dragon may of mentioned a weakness. that's more speculation since it's been so long i've played DS1)
Just how Strong was Gwyn?
