Fume UGS nerfing and what purpose it served
So for the entirety of my Dark Souls gaming life I have always rocked Strength builds - Pop 40 points into Str and just let it rip to put it nicely. Starting with DS3 I decided to go the Qualtiy/Refined route and in nearly every instance I have found the AR increase to be pretty substantial compared to STR/Heavy.

Now onto the Fume. At 45/40 the Fume rocks 606 AR whereas my beloved Refined Zweihander is rocking a flat 600AR.

Insert "wat" face and my jaw bone is still dislocated after seeing these numbers.

So now I really have no reason to even use the Fume. It is 15.5 units heavier, kills stamina like a boss,and doesn't have the mob killing horizontal swing. It does have a nice poke though but I discovered the Lothric Greatsword during this run for my poking pleasure. So now I have to ask:

Why did From nerf this sword again?

just to make things more fun

fume at 60 str attack vs player, average damage 400

gotthard rolling l1 with leo ring? 600....

2 dark sword hits (same time as 1 fume swing) 600

and for pure AR

mornes, dragonslayers greataxe, Lothric Knight Greatsword,black knight great axe and greatsword, exile greatsword, demons greataxe, the 'greatsword' zweilhanders,cathedral knight greatsword, and many others.

all of these weapons, have equal or much higher AR of the fume, whilst weighing substantially less.

Balance has never been Froms strong side. They either nerf to the point of uslessness, or they make it extremely OP.

As of right now the Fume is along side the Butchers Knife in terms of useless S scaling weapons now. They either need to decrease the weight by 8-10 units or bring back the original damage. Make that S scaling mean something.

The original damage made sense, it was actually slightly lower than bkga and a few other weapons, the main benefit of it easy being buffable, which made it by no means op, it merely justified the incredible weight.

again, butcher knife, lower ar than a straight sword, can't buff or infuse, slower and consumes more stamina.

Its too op simple even though a onikiri and whatever its called can dish out easily over 1200 damage on one combo on just a terrible quality build.

Knee from the WA stuns you it comes out instantly the WA is unparrable.

Oh look twinblades are op again as well what they balanced just for gank spanks.

But sure 70 damage off FUGS sounds like a great idea.

not even that imo, Lothric Knight sword is available earlier on, has better/same damage, can be buffed (important for early AR increase) and has a higher crit rating for more riposte damage.

Fume ultra greatsword would lazily hit for 600 damage on a regular one-handed swing, that's a wee bit too strong

Dont forget that the Carthus Cuck sword does pretty much that damage faster and in 2 hits which as the stun system is you will hit them twice.
