DARK SOULS™ III

DARK SOULS™ III

Statistiche:
What Are Oni?
Oni in Japanese mythology are trolls or giants but it's hinted they are Dragons in DS3 and the Storm Drake may be one. Maybe we'll see a true Oni boss in the DLC? :D

Some japanese think they are protective spirits now , no troll japanese just played themselves again.
Sounds like you're playing yourself.
You can't even research cultures properly and you're trying to convince yourself (for some reason) that dragons can be referred to as oni.

Very much of what's said in Japanese is vague and ambiguous!
But for most of everything, there are always ways to read between the lines, or a common understanding behind the phrase that is said.

Yu-gi-oh never has been a reliable source for any real information, so I don't know why you would ever even try to bring that as some kind of "proof". Hence why the troll is escalating.

Sure Oni can be shape-shifters and such, and perhaps that is even related to the Ancient Dragon (Who wasn't a real dragon) from DS2! But anything at this point is speculation until the DLCs come out.

Wow how the hell did you even come up with that stupid idea? Onislayer bow? Is that why? The most common Oni descriptions in Japanese books or arts look like a 1-horned cyclop.
Go and watch Vaati's videos. There's a metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of suggestion that Onis are similar to the Storm Drake.
Also great to see some asstrolls invaded a none-poise related thread. Their minds have been expanded.

I don't think there are oni that we meet in game bar alonne's sword is possessed so far but the oni theory is still possible.

And even then who really knows its vague no solid foundation.

They would seem to have some presence in the game.
Maybe the nameless king was in a way tricked into siding with the dragons by the stormdrake that could be a oni it's a nice idea not great i dont think this happened but we know enough to know whats kinda happened in the game but even the more powerful beings in dark souls not seem to really know a whole lot more than we do bar a few some i dont think even know how they have been played.

Dark Souls has taken a few mythical names in the past and changed their meanings though. I mean does the centipede demon even look like a demon?

How is a Demon supposed to look? That it's a demon doesn't mean it's your generic balrog type, just means it's a fiend from hell, or in Dark Souls' case from Izalith I guess.

I think oni in this game just mean / refers to the demons but the pus of man is more like a oni as it appears to possess people and comes from the abyss which seem to be born of humanity or the dark soul at least.

Yeah, well that's the generic look, doesn't mean they don't come in other flavors :P
Like you pointed out in case of Dark Souls we have the Centipede Demon and also the Capra Demon. Usually in every lore there's a lot of different kind of demons that come in different forms.

Capra Demon is the most demon looking demon I think.
