Can you find a way of fixing movement as well???
For the first phase of the fight, you wanna focus on his groin: That will get you quickly into the second phase, and the tree itself will shelter you from the cannon fodder enemies. Also, almost none of his attacks can hit you when you're that close to him.
For the second phase, the easiest stratey is keeping your distance to bait the attack where he stands up and falls on his face. You need to be far enough that he won't fall *on* you, but close enough that you can quickly run up to him and land some hits on his third, white arm, which will be exposed and helpless while he manages to sit up again. Once he's moving, get away quickly.
The white arm is like a growth on its own, and even though it won't blow up for massive damage, you can just keep hitting it until the boss is done. So rinse and repeat, and you'll be done before you know it
I honestly think the Curse Rotted Greatwood is the worst boss in Dark Souls.
Except the Bed of Chaos...
As for the Curse Rotted Greatwood, I mostly ran around not locked on, rolled to avoid swipe attacks and did leap attacks at his growths. Immediately ran backwords to avoid his attacks and repeated. Not something that would work well with a mage, but I imagine targetting with spells not locked on is like trying to attack with a bow without using target mode.
You are over leveled for where you are, but from what I've read, spellcasters are pretty difficult to play given the dedication to specific stats that is necessary in order to function.
Some of these bosses are very tricky for a sorc. I'm assuming most play sword and shield classes with much better defence etc.
Since when did being over levelled become a bad thing? All I have read on forums about this game is grind grind grind, especially as the hard cap is so high for level and attributes.... Why not? It can only help.
I'm actually pretty good at this game but feel let down by the bad camera functions and mechanics and especially when lock ♥♥♥♥♥ me over cause it either disappears or makes the camera spin weird and I roll in the wrong direction ffs!?!
I got the earlier bosses done very quickly before I started to grind a bit and i'm very sure if I wasn't playing a mage class I would be done with those bosses by now!
But thanks again for your feedback cloudseeker, you once again amaze us with your wisdom...
Very few bosses cause the crazy camera shenanigans, thankfully.
Playing sword and board has been my preference for the early bosses, but I changed over to two handed/dual wielding for bosses pretty quickly for the added damage. Heavy armor isn't much more protective than the cloth armor, despite wearing a lot more. I wear it for the cool factor myself, hahaha.
Your tricky parts for the tree boss will be having to target the growths and not the boss in general. You might find it easier to grab a sword and go in swinging so you're not locked on and have more control of your camera.
Also, ignore the mockery about the level. Go at your pace man and enjoy the journey.
I should prob watch some sorc vids to see how others play it, get some new ideas maybe.
