Game minimizes itself

I just upgraded my graphics card from a 780ti to 1080. With the 780ti everything worked fine, with the 1080, the game minimizes itself when in fullscreen. It seems to work fine in windowed mode. I have verified that there are no other programs running that could steal focus. Is anyone else having this issue?

I have been having focus stolen by background processes like the Razer Synapse 2.0 driver framework and other things that have no right requesting focus.

Since changing from an AMD card (R9 270X) to a GTX 980Ti, i've had this happen, but with everything fullscreen, and I still don't know what's doing it

Yeah mine only happens fullscreen and I have checked for background processes and theres nothing suspicious going on, it seems like nothing is grabbing focus

Check to ensure your steam setting for notifications isn't the culprit.

Disabling the steam overlay as well could also solve it.

Ok so some update, it seems like it only happens when I have my monitor unplugged. I usually play with steam in-home streaming so I dont bother plugging in a monitor. I plugged one it today to do some debugging and happened to start Dark Souls while it was plugged in and fullscreen worked fine. Once I unplugged the monitor, it started minimizing itself. Weird thing is, this didnt happen with the 780ti which I used in the same in-home streaming setup

sir this thread is nine years old

usually something might pop up or flash on the taskbar tho. also always good to close out everything you dont need while the game is open
