How do i look human as a phantom?

Sometimes when i summon people they have the title "host of embers" like the normal host does and they also don't have any colors around them. Do i need a ring like in dark souls 2? I'm new to dark souls 3 so i don't know so much about this game

sucks how you can't get the untrue white ring after healing the sigil. i really wanted to be a human as a phantom, but i didn't know about the ring until it was too late.
