Great Scythe Doesn't Seem That Great
Im doing a dex/pyro build but the great scythe don't seem as good as everyone makes it out to be. My Long Sword Does Way More Damage

Why would you use it on a dex pyro..? It's mainly a quality weapon. And it's just fine the way it is, long range, good combos, shield piercing properties.

Edit: it's not fine per se, it could use a damage buff. That is, all the scythes could use a small damage buff.

Why not use Chaos/Dark infused Corvian Scythe instead?

Split damage on most weapons are terrible. The only reason to ever infuse the GS is with refined. And since he's a dex pyro, he's losing out anyway, so really it's just a matter of sacrificing fashion for practicality.

I see two main points:
1) You're a '-pyro' build. Drop that, all weapons will become better.
2) You're putting damage ahead of moveset, reach and looks.
Or you just want an R1-stick with maximum DPS for PvE?

This. There's literally also a weapon made for dex pyros called the witches locks which you get towards end game.

Witchlock have about the same total AR as a chaos infused corvian scythe which you can get much earlier though (16 str 18dex 40int 40 faith)

Again, but you're lowering the base scaling which is primarily on str/dex and turning it to split (chaos) damage, which is bad. If they want a good dex pyro weapon, there are many better choices besides the Corvian GS.

Edit: chaos Longsword, chaos astoras sword, etc.

Why would one want a fire melee weapon anyway?..

Imbuing should really add a weapon glow. Just for that extra edge.

Just go Chaos/dark astora greatsword..and you want the corvian scythe, not the great scythe, for infusions. It is one of the best infusion weapons. [for some reason?] The problem might be is that you're too close, if you aren't hitting them within the range of the scythe part hitting you're not doing its full potential. I gave up on my dark corvian because I just could not get the range right since I am usually right on top of enemies when I am attacking them. Scythes look cool though.

Some os us prefer infusions because we don't like to buff all day every day.
