Can I use another save file?

I played ds3 for a bunch of hours on my friends account over the last few days then I decided to buy the game (bought it like 20 min ago). I took the "Dark Souls III" folder from his PC and put it on my PC in the roaming folder thinking it would allow me to continue the character I started on his PC but it just gives me the option to start a new char.

Is there no way to get that char from that PC? It's already lvl 20 something and I don't wanna do all that again!

But srsly mate, chillax. No need for such drama. A "thanks for your suggestion but i'm specifically looking how to transfer saves, not an alternative solution" would suffice instead of telling everyone to f_ck off...

Saves created in 1.05 or later can no longer be transferred between accounts.

You'll need to start a new character.

Oh, now i know why i was having problem with my other account...
Welp, i can assure you at least that backups works like a charm. I've got quite a collection of saves here for different bosses that i load whenever i feel like facing them and never had a problem doing so.

Im sure u can still load character infos with file, whether its on ur acc or other's acc.

Could u tell me the name of ur save files?
One should be folder and one should be a file.

There's two folders in my "roaming/Darksouls III" folder as I'm doing family sharing, and one file.

Folder one: "011000010df12ce1"
Folder two: "0110000106180eaa"

And of course the GraphicsConfig.xml.

Inside each folder is a file called "DS30000.sl2".

I tried taking the file (DS30000.sl2) from one folder and copying it to another but when I try to load the game it simply says unable to load save data please try again. It repeatedly says that, and it does it whether I transfer the save then start DS3 or start DS3 first, alt+tab, switch files, then try to load game (as suggested in the thread "ert" brought to my attention).

Neither seems to work. If the new update really does prevent saves from being used between accounts then that answers the question fair enough I guess albeit not the answer I wanted. If there is a way to use other save files, I will purchase the game on this account and have access to the game on two accounts.
