DARK SOULS™ III

Why Yellowfinger Heysel won't invade ?
Running around in ember form at Crucifixion Woods and Heysel never invade . . .
Does offline mode, activated Hidden Body and wearing Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring affect Heysel invasion ?

Online mode is not true. I most play offline and I get NPC invasion all the time. In order to trigger npc invasions you have to embered. Much like if you were in online mode.
I know how the invasions work, and I'm always embered. I've personally tested that when Steam (not the in-game option) is in Offline Mode, that NPCs WILL NOT invade whatsoever. Nor do quest related signs appear such as Sirris' or Anri's in their respective locations despite all prior requirements being met.

Loading up Steam in Online Mode resolves the issue, and consequently rebooting Offline Mode results in the issues resurfacing again. I can assure you that playing in Steam Offline Mode has an affect on NPC invasions.

However, NPC white signs that you can summon (as opposed to being summoned to their world) will still appear regardless.
I've finished Sirris's question when playing in offline mode. You do not have to be online to get them to show up. You only have to be embered. That's the only criteria you have to meet before being able to summon or be invaded. I've been invaded, I've summoned, I've finished the game quite a few times all in offline. But as long as I was emebered I could see summon signs and be invaded by npcs.

To be clear. This is Steam running in Offline Mode, not you setting your status to Offline?

Offline Mode requires you to go into the Steam Settings in the top left corner and rebooting Steam Offline. It's not setting your status to Offline via the friends panel or whatever (also, it's NOT the in-game option of starting in Offline).

they're refering to setting up the game option to not sign into the DkS3 servers on start, not steam.

This is with the game and steam set to offline, as well as my computer not being connected to the internet.

I'm gonna go and test more now.
Ok, just checked on a couple characters for different things.

Character 1 :: Steam Online / Game Offline - Heysel invaded by Crucifixion Woods.
Character 1 :: Steam Offline / Game Offline - Heysel did not invade. I went to the exact spot when she invaded before, and even ran around the entire pool area that triggers her.

Character 2 :: Steam Online / Game Offline - Daughter of Crystal Kriemhild invaded in Untended Graves.
Character 2 :: Steam Offline / Game Offline - Daughter of Crystal Kriemhild did not invade. Same situation.

Character 3 :: Steam Online / Game Offline - Sirris' Summon Sign on the Irithyll Bridge is visible and interactable (I didn't obviously).
Character 3 :: Steam Offline / Game Offline - Sirris' Summon Sign on the Irithyll Bridge was not visible.

I think it's fairly safe to say what the issue is here, but why it doesn't affect you I don't know. It's definitely a bug, but perhaps it's not one that affects everyone, or at least that doesn't happen 100% of the time (although it would seem it's quite prevalent).
I had the same problem today. I ran around the sacrifice road swamp and got invaded by Heysel AND a Farrons watchdog. However the Farron watchdog killed me and now Heysel doesn't invade anymore... I am in online mode, embered AND have beaten the Crystal sage (despite what people say she did invade me when I had already beaten it). Any clues?

Why would you necro a necro of a year old thread?

-- Just reload the area. Assuming you haven't killed the Abyss Watchers, she'll invade. Try the area in the Swamp also.

Also, it may be that the Watchdog killed her without you realising. Not likely though.

I find this interesting/confusing because I still got invaded by Hodrick near the dilapidated bridge bonfire. Any idea why that is? Nobody else invades so far. (I have no internet for my computer rn :’( )

This is a guaranteed invasion regardless of whether you're playing online or offline, whether you're connected to the internet or not. The only explanation is to give you a chance to obtain 1 Vertebra Shackle.
Congratulation for necro a 4 years old thread. :epiczombie:
I think it's a running theme that this thread be necrod. This is the 3rd time.

This thread is 4 years old, the post you quoted is 3 years old. It's entirely possible they patched this in that time. Either way I'm not going to go and test it.

Spoiler alert: they haven't fixed it. This is very much still an issue.

I'm going to go back offline, and accept that these offline invasions are just not for me.
