Yeah. Just dont expect them to just sit there and let you use your magic.
Skeleton 19. juli 2016 kl. 22.36
Some people mind it, some don't. These things aren't written, so just do it and see they react.
Dragalen 19. juli 2016 kl. 22.37
I would say so but there are always those pricks looking for any reason to be a scumbag and chug estus.
The Fountaineer 🖋 19. juli 2016 kl. 22.40
There really shouldn't be any reason to get angry at blue chuggers. How else are they gonna spam CSS, amirite? Plus once they take out the blue Powerade it becomes fair game to try punishing it.

yeah it's completely fine, although some people will chug as soon as you do and then realize it was an ashen estus. Happened to me a couple times, i can't help it, my brain does it on it's own. And then i have to turn around and let them backstab me until i lose the hp i just regained, or start the duel again. That's why i now drink all my estus before the duel just in case and trust the oponnent won't chug on me. Of course i will try kill you while you are drinking, but that's besides the point.

I just stop and use Prostration and they usually let me go to the bench or just refill their Estus. It's dangerous to chug it away for the sake of honor, cause there's always that one guy who low key invaded earlier and is just waiting for a chance to finish off the phantoms so he can kill the host (at least in fight clubs).

thanks guys!

Honestly duels are kind of unwritten in the fact that you shouldnt drink from the jar.
All bets are off once you sip down the estus whether it's blue or yellow.
Pure sorcery in a duel is not something you should take into duels lightly and if you're not ready to manage your spells without resource to regen them, then I'm sorry you should probably set up a special spellcaster arena of some sort if you can.
I don't see a pure caster having any place in an arena if they're going to gargle listerine just to keep spamming the same tactics over and over. Hell at least spellblades rely on their swords as much as their magic.
TL;DR: Pure casters have no place in duels unless you're willing to fight with what you got; your catalyst, your magic, and the starting mailbreaker/mace/handaxe/minimalphysicalstats you were given. Floss your teeth and brush em cuz listerine's only gonna get you so far.

Found the "magic isn't viable" guy.

i never said it wasn't viable; I just said it has no place in duels if you're going to rely on a blue jug of gatorade to keep your spells going; you're going to run out of resources and i'm not too keen on letting people get it back when they should manage that. If you don't like it that's fine; you simply don't see it my way.

That's sort of the point, though. Melee only requires a regenerating resource (stamina) while magic requires a "finite" resource (FP, if they don't drink Ash). Can you imagine only being able to swing a melee weapon 10 times before it breaks lol DS2? I bet we'd see a lot more Repair Powder in fights.

Regardless, one would expect magic to have some huge advantage given this restriction, but anything it's capable of doing, melee can do for cheaper. For every Crystal Soul Spear 1-shot, there are ten people with Black Knight weapons and curved/twin sword Beyblades capable of doing the same thing.

Magic users already have to sacrifice something in order to be viable, most of the time it's hp.

Also yeah, you can punish ashtus usage, noona said you should just let them do it.

And if everyone were like you duels would be boring as hell. I can make a magic guy who regenerates FP (simple infusion), and just roll around for half an hour to get my FP back. Would anyone enjoy it? No. Duels are so boring as it is, don't make magic boring too. (I mean fight against mages)

OF COURSE it's ok to chug with ashen estus.

Otherwise it would be like
"oh, i ran out of mana"
"-k bro you can try to hit me with your rusted broken dagger even if i'm using black knight gs+5 against you".
