Random Bell Ringing in Archdragon's Peak

So, I'm waiting to be summoned for the NK to help someone, but while I wait, I sometimes hear the bell ringing very loud next to me, even though I did nothing.

Could someone explain this to me or is it just that I can hear when someone else - like another player - rings it?

Tried finding something on this on Google, but no luck.

Perhaps it's like the Gargoyle bell in DS1? when someone ring it, the bell in your world ring too?

Whenever somebody rings the bell to call forth the king, you can hear it in your own game.

That's what I'm wondering. And it only happened twice in 15 minutes now.
And didn't know the bell in DkS 1 could behave like that :)
