Can I get banned for using cheat engine offline?
So let's say I start steam in offline mode, and use cheat engine to alter my souls on a character specifically created to only be played in offline mode with... Could I get banned?

That's not how the banning process works. The algorithms are in place On Server, and only work when you are connected. The system looks through your saved files at all the information. Your time played, your deaths, your stats and items, where you are, what bosses are near, what bosses you've defeated, the souls you have aquired an lost. How many times you've beaten the game. They can't see this in Offline mode, because it means you're disconnected from their servers. That's like saying you can get banned from GTA on Xbox despite having Live turned off. Their only way around this is Steam. If you Are online on Steam, it can and often times Will have your game reconnect to Bandai servers. Best way to cheat is to it just turn your internet off. You can use DS3 and Cheat Engine (it's really the DS3-Reversal table you need to launch - Not cheat engine) while not connected to the net. But if you're still worried, have the game on console as well. That way if you somehow get banned, you can still play the fair way.

i have tried to alter the soul counter, u cant, u have to use embers or a sould. do it like this, have atleast 4 ember and sell one at a time and put the number in, get inffinet embers and sell them, remeber to switch on no acctivity so it stays on 99, but u ALWAYS have to have 1 ember on you, so only sell 98 embers.

It's easier to just drop a soul ny a bonfire , change it to a Great Champion soul, change count to 599 (max that your inventory and store can hold) and just keep using 99 and revisiting the store box. The Great Champion gives you 50,000 souls.
yes some scripts can ban. Item swap is an injection so don't use it unless you want your account flagged and banned

SoftBan is now just a permban
The answer is yes. You see, once you modify certain things in your save data, it flags you, even if you're offline while doing so. The next time you log online after making such modifications, you get banned on Wednesday, unless they've changed it. The things that I know will get you banned for certain are:

1. Modifying your stats (99 in each stat for ex)

2. Modifying your character's appearance

3. Spawning in Estus Shards

4. Spawning in Undead Bone Shards

5. Editing your Soul count directly (using Cheat Engine to find the value, then editing your Souls from there)

6. Spawning in Boss Souls

7. A lot of the scripts are unsafe to use and will get you banned

8. Spawning in hacked items (+15 Cursed Dagger for ex)

9. Changing your name to something with an illegal character in it, or modifying it past the name limit

There are probably more, but these are the main ones. How do I know this? Well, because there's a Reddit discussing all of this.

Spawning in souls (aside from Boss Souls) will not get you banned to my knowledge. As long as you don't try to do something stupid like maxing out your Souls of course

what you mean by maxing out my soul?
Yup, got penalized for spawning a boss just so I could see boss vs boss fight like in one of those youtube videos. I've been banned because of that since April.
