Carthus Curved Sword too good?

Is it? I personally have only used it for a few hours and then switched to a different one because I don't like to use overused meta weapons. But from what I've seen it's the best curved sword by far:

It has bleed, it has the best range, it has the best damage, it has bleed and can be buffed with Carthus Rouge on top of everything. It has 425 AR on a quality build while the Storm Curved Sword only has 370 AR on the same build while having no bleed and being unable to be buffed.

I'm aware that it has a slightly higher stamina consumption than other curved swords but I don't think that this matters much considering how little stamina this weapon class consumes in general.

So yeah, what's your guys opinion on that? The way I see it it's slightly op currently as there literally isn't much reason to use any other curved sword except of for different weapon arts or for the sake of not jumping on the meta train.

I think there fine yes they do alot of damage but still take a few hits to kill someone, better than being forced into a two hit death that ultra greatswords usually do, as the second hit is always a freebee

Did you read my post? It's not about Curved Swords in general, but about the balance within the weapon class itself.

yeah I know that lol yeah its a little weird that the others do less but still don't think it's all that bad

As result of this thread I picked up a Carthus Meme sword and I would definintly say it is a slight bit OP, but with a low endurance build (25 -30 end) it is quite balanced, spamming doesn't become viable, therefor less swings, meaning less damage done, meaning if you do spam you then open to an attack. Now I still can't tell the whole truth as the charcater isn't at SL 120 yet and is only arund 70 at the moment. at higher level perhaps It becomes less balanced.

I see, I only used it with 40 endurance myself. I think raising the stamina consumptions of weapons that outrange other weapons in their class isn't enough to create a good balance. I mean we've seen it with the Estoc and Washing Pole already. Considering how little stamina rolls consume, stamina consumption isn't that big of a deal really in PvP. Weapons with superior range withing their weapon class should have to sacrifice damage in my opinion.

A negative side is that it does not have the attack/kick other curved swords have, where you attack and roll at the same time. But yea, it sounds a bit OP compared to others CS

Got one of these babies the week the game was released, used it a ton and yeah its op even with the speed nerf. I only use the thing when invading against gank squads, or if someone pulls out some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapon in a duel. It completely outclasses all other curved swords. Its also one of the few weapons that can somewhat effectively catch roll spam. Seems like the only way I lose with this thing is if they get off a lucky hornet ring parry, I'm not even that good at this game btw.

That backflip is useless, against players anyways.

The backflip is one of the reasons I just can't get "into" these weapons. At all.

The other being my utter disdain and contempt for anything built around DEX.

ive been using it quite extensively and id say its rather hella powerful. im trying to get myself to work with the storm curved but it just doesnt compare the the carthus sadly :/

It needs a slight nerf somewhere, but it has a trash move set, so really the only thing going for it are the really good R1s.

My guess is that they'll nerf it eventually, and it won't be worth using at all anymore.

Tried it since I was running a dex luck build. Best dex weapon for me so far. Awesome moveset, fast and good range.

The real problem is that there's not a single point to use other curved sword apart from ccs. They should give falchion more dmg, or give the scimitar more speed, or smthing, rly. As it is now that weapon class is basically just 1 weapon.

Well it shares the moveset with most other Curved Swords though.
