Winged knight halberd build?
On my first runthrough of the game I picked up the dark sword and really liked the look of it so I built my character aroud it. However it seems like everyone hates people who use it so I want a pvp character based around a weapon that would be unique and not whined about by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on gamefaqs.

Ive been considering the winged knight halberd but im not sure wether to go heavy infusion and dump all my points into str or to refine it and do quality with the c/c scaling, does anyone know which will yield higher dmg? I will be 2 handing it mostly.

What sl will you go to? If you pvp around the level 120 meta I use then go 50/50 str dex and go refined like I do, otherwise just have a look at what would by having a look in blacksmith

P.S People hate dark sword bc it's r1 spam is a bit fast, honestly just don't do that and use what weapons you like.

Im planning to stick around SL 60 - 80. At what point does refined c/c begin to outclass b/-?

It's not the speed of the R1, it's that the dark sword has the best damage to length to stamina drain ratios of the straight swords. Similar to how the shield of want is the most efficient shield for it's weight. People don't like either item because they clearly exceed their peers in some situations. One of the dark swords trade offs lies in it's terrible R2 move set, but this actually creates more hate by making R1 even more likely to be heavily used.

Here is the thing: people complain about parry spam more than dark sword spam, and parry spam naturally counters dark sword spam. It's easy to work in the .5 pounds of a caestus, so so literally everyone can hard counter dark sword spam if they wanted to. Instead, they refuse to adapt, and that is on them, not you. If they can't parry the dark sword user, then the issue isn't the weapons, it's skill.

In short, everything can be countered, use whatever the heck you want, but bring more than one trick to the party or you're going to get countered.

Well I'd say about 30/30 dex str would be great for c/c, which is conceivable for you. So long as you don't go complete one way or another refined will be good, if your dex is about 16 (min for halberd probably isn't that but shh) then go heavy
I tried ???[puu.sh] Like, Hunter Ring is just here to benifit from Refined infusion so if you don't want it just go 40 STR and use Heavy infusion and Hornet is here cause, aside from Chloranthy, you don't need any other rings, really. Also if you don't need Hornet, just drop like 1 or 2 points of VIT somewhere else.

FYI, for whatever insane reason, the Winged Knight Halberd gets the most benefit out of a Sharp Infusion out of all weapons.

Just putting that out there.
