Not really. Armour in this game sucks anyway - it is all fashion. Those of us who like the heavier look are being punished too severely.

It makes sense that the Havels Ring would be alot less OP in this game. In 1 you started useless rolling after 25%. Now its 70%. Stopping then giant dads in their tracks.

In Dark Souls 1 heavy armour actually let you tank stuff.

It doesn't this time around.

Yeah but that's because of balancing bugs and it can't really be counted as an official game perspective until it's fixed.

What makes you think there is anything to fix? Just like Poise, heavy armour is "working as intended" (i.e sucking donkey balls).

Well there was noticably simmilar balancing bugs with DS2 on release too and they got fixed around the 6 month point.

But they are not bugs. It is not like Poise simply isn't working; it works but in a backwards-ass way nor is there a bug causing heavy armour not to provide the full protection values - the values are just far, faaaar too low in comparison to the weight.

Not a bug per say. Just a balancing bug. The devs need to buff and nerf ♥♥♥♥.

So out of morbid curiosity I decided to let that one crossbow Hollow near the very first Bonfire at High Wall hit me.

There is like no difference in damage taken between the heavier sets (Smough, Havel, Gundyr, Exil ect) and something like the Pale set - some robes.

However, if you remove your headgear you'll notice an increase in damage taken.

I mean... I was just sort of exaggerating whenever I said going from naked to rags gave you more damage reduction than going from rags to full Havels but...

It is true. It is all true, people....

Don't get any Vitality at all. Kill Blademaster, wear his filthy burlap diaper the entire game while focusing on your desired offensive stats and Vigor/Endurance. Every point spent on Vitality is wasted.

Somebody kill me....

The damage reduction is dfferent this time around. Wearing 4 pieces of armor grants you a 20% flat reduction or whatever the correct number is. That is why you don't see much of a difference between Havel's and cloth.

Watch this video for a better understanding. Basically never go full heavy unless you want to impress people with your huge vitality number.

I know how it (doesn't) work.

I... I just didn't want to believe it.

But having tested it for myself now, there is no doubt in m mind. Yet another area where Dark Souls III is inferior to it's predecessors.
