Optimized?
I'm a big fan of the Souls series, wanting to get this but not 100% if I'd be able to run it. Is it optimized very well? My specs are

i5 2320
HD 7850 2GB
8GB RAM

I've already checked CYRI and it says no, but there are plenty of games I apparently can and cant play that do the exact opposite.

May be time to upgrade if you want to game in 2011.

I've got similar specs but with a GTX 950M. Game runs fine on high (40-60fps) but on 720p only.

1080 makes it chug to 29-35.

Well, I max out most games out today, so... I'm only asking as it's a hit or miss with Ds as the first was badly optimized where as the second seemed better. But thank you for your input I guess.

I might buy and try then, worst comes to worst I'll just refund it.

It's not optimized. There have been a lot of complaints here about how horribly unoptimized this game is.
nxmt Jun 24, 2016 @ 6:38pm
Yeah the optimization is real spotty. Do NOT benchmark your performance from the starting zone. The framerate is all over the place in that map. Make your way past the first boss to the first major zone and gauge from there.

They really should of optimized the game better. The graphics are good, but by no means groundbreakingly amazing to the point where some of our rigs shouldn't play it with at least low settings in 1080p. DS2 the second edition was really well optimized.

I can play most new games with med to high settings. This game is terribly optimized and was very buggy I refunded it :(

Graphics =/= extra requirements

It's really poorly optimized, eating up an insane amount of power compared to other contemporary titles --especially so CPU-wise, but also it can never have enough RAM.

That said, I'm running it on a GeForce 950Ti (which I think is about the same level of your videocard) and an Athlon II X4 640 (which was mid-range in 2010, and it's a massive bottleneck right now) and I'm getting a fairly steady 30+ FPS at 1440x900. Not beautiful, to be sure, but perfectly playable considering my specs. You should do notably better.

It also depends on your drivers, a few weeks ago witha 750ti i could run max settings and still get a stable 50-70 fps but once i updated my drivers i get 30-60 and i cant find the driver that worked best now :|

Sucks, I almost want to just buy a console to enjoy this game. Even though they are overpriced for the crap hardware. It's just too poorly optimized on PC, I don't know why they didn't optimize it the way they did the last DS2 edition. Or at the very least patch it in.....

You could probably get a new PC to out perform a PS4 for alot cheaper, lbh here.
Hunubul Jul 22, 2016 @ 5:21am
You'll be able to run it, I believe, but don't take my word for it.

I mean you'll get stable 30 fps I believe.

Also the game isn't WELL optimized, but it's okey. I've seem much worse optimized games, even PC exclusive ones.

The game's main problem is that the cpu usage is abysmal. We're talking single threaded cpu code here. The gfx settings make no difference to performance from low to max (except particles and even then it doesn't scale very well). I get the same performance at 800x600 that I get at 1080p A resolution that low should remove any bottleneck, but lo and behold, the fps doesn't budge.

DS2 whilst not considered the best, is freakingly well optimised. It never drops a frame. The netcode and pvp is solid too. DS3 runs like crap, looks like crap (based on the fact its asthetically identical to the ps4 version regardless of settings), and the netcode is broken. Have Fromsoft addressed any of this? No. They'd rather take weeks at a time to adjust weapon stats...

Priorities...

First I thought it was a joke topic, but then I realized you were seriously asking if it was optimized and I'm sorry, but I can wholeheartedly say that it is not. Could be worse, but should be far, far better.

THIS. Both paragraphs. Especially about DS2 being optimized, that game ran perfectly for me from day one. Only issue I had was with all my ♥♥♥♥ breaking too fast... cuz framerate - makes sense, amirite?! I just learned to have several primary weapons, so whatever. I love DS2 - DS3 has been a pretty huge letdown for me.
