good piles of xp either way ... lol
I recommend planning your build in advance. I would suggest starting as either the Warrior (16 Strength) or the Mercenary (16 Dex) and leveling from there towards the sword. You actually can get it very soon in the game if you save Greirat as soon as possible, and it only costs 7000 souls! Plus, no pointless farming! A good weapon to get you to the sword would be the Broadsword or the Astora Straightsword. Level those up to +4 or +6 and you'll have an easy time getting your Lothric Sword from Greirat. It's definitely worth getting that weapon...it's very good and hits very hard. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Have a nice night!
butr if you enter irithyll dungeon, onion bro will move on and greirat wont be saved
thanks for the help though...
i heard geriat was bugged that he alwasy died, but read somewhere that was fixed ? i dunno if thats true tho.
He's not bugged. Here's how you save him:
1. Start Seigward's questline in Undead Settlement.
2. Save Greirat from prison (order of these two steps don't matter)
3. Get Loretta's Bone and give it to him.
4. Have him pillage his first area, kill any boss, and he'll return safely.
5. Go to Cleansing Chapel, find a big door near the Deacons boss fight (from the boss room, go straight, then go to the right through a small passage to a short elevator) Take the elevator up and find a big blue door. Open it, reload the area, then go down the opposite way to find Patches. Kill Patches and take the armor. Make sure you do that BEFORE you kill the Deacons of the Deep.
6. Go to Cleansing Chapel, exit the building and turn right. Find Seigward in a well. Give him the armor.
7. Play the game until you get to Irrithyl of the Boreal Valley.
8. Get all the bonfires in the area, including the Distant Manor. Do not kill the Pontiff, yet. DO NOT GO TO IRRITHYL DUNGEON OR GREIRAT DIES.
9. Send Greirat to pillage a second time.
10. Go back to Distant Manor bonfire, talk to Onion Bro, who should be in the room past the creepy centipedes. Make sure you kill all the centipedes, because I hear this can affect Greirat's survival. Exhaust his dialogue.
11. Kill any boss. After that, Greirat will return unharmed. If you send him to pillage a third time, he will die permanently. You can then retrieve his ashes to get the last set of his items, but in my opinion it's not worth it because all the good stuff is in his second run. I never send him to do his third pillage because I like having him alive. Hope that helps!
If you do all this, you can potentially get Greirat's second stash in under an hour, if you know the game well enough. You do not have to kill the Pontiff to save Greirat. I always kill the Demon King, as it's faster and easier. Let me know if I missed anything!
