What Does Estus Taste Of?
Ok so I'm sure most of us thought Estus probably burned your throat and felt like you were swallowing hot coals. BUT. Siegward makes Estus Soup. Why would people make soup of stuff that's painful to eat? This got me thinking what Estus tastes like.

Squeezed oranges that grow only in Astora and Solaire's distilled armpit sweat.

Siegward is a drunk tho, so wouldn't give his tastebuds much credit. In Undead Settlement there's a fresh batch of Estus soup, but the maker chose to starve to death instead of eating it. Probably tastes like hell.

Ashen One chugs like a hero, so safe to say it's an aquired taste!

On the Siegbrau, it describes how the undead don't enjoy drinks.

Leave it to Siegward to discover a drink that even an Undead can enjoy. Perhaps his long years spent Undead have left him wanting to drain a cup or two and revel as if he were still among the living.

We could assume that this means they generally do not get any kick or taste from normal food apart from Estus. Then it would be pretty normal for them to create food using it as a base ingredient.

EDIT: I know, I am so fun at parties...

For the undead? Probably... For normal people? Who knows... I don't think there is a recorded description regarding a human that wanted to drink Estus. For all we know it might be poisonous or taste like ♥♥♥♥... or both. Maybe drinking Estus is what turns you into Undead?!

Wait but the Ashen One isn't actually undead. And he's ok with drinking it.
