Please equip full havels (or a similary heavy armour) and try to roll, and post the results here.
I tried fighting without rolling to see how it goes awhile back, relying on blocks and backsteps/weapon skills. It felt alot better gameplay wise, if not harder than rolling away from trouble. Rolling is by no means needed to beat anything but bosses, and even then a single role usually suffices and no more than 2 in close proximity needed, usually to dodge combo attacks.
Maybe im once again overestimating people, but i am curious as to your reasons why rolling is fine in PvE but not PvP.
Perhaps its just due to annoying other players, or perhaps you think its fine because its npcs and rollspamming them is required or not a problem. Maybe you just think pve is harder without rolling. However i don't see the difference.
That just takes high equip load, you can still do it, which is personally a pet peeve of mine. I mean, you should atleast be limited to being above the 70% mark when wearing that kind of gear. Fat rolls are hardly unusable, even in pvp. Though im not sure its worth it for the stats you get in gear like that. Rolling quick is too useful and that gear is not that much better than something of medium weight.
basically, shields are ♥♥♥♥ for fast combat with high stam drain. so we need to roll.
I don't even use roll in gundyrs fight anymore, parrying is purely enough, think the only boss I bother rolling with is pontiff..oh and dancer
I meant for those who don't have the finetuned skill and knowledge of having played the game already. You have to imagine it as if your playing for the first time, even if you played previous souls games, your not going to be perfect right off the bat.
Sorry if i misphrased that. Rolling is still less work, since its basically guaranteed.
Dark souls one- got smacked up trying to roll regularly.
Dark souls 2- got smacked up trying to roll regularly. Discovered adaptability. Used invuln over evasion more. Got smacked trying to roll somewhat less regularly.
Dark souls 3- got smacked up trying to roll regularly. Died to insane weapon tracking. Discovered silly number of invincibility frames. Used invincibility instead of evasion. Stopped dodging. Stopped getting smacked.
