Odd Theory: Ornstein is the King of the Storm.
This rather weird theory has been put across, and while it could be true in every sense, I'm not entirely sold by it. The path of the dragon was only ever achieved by one, and in order to become a dragon, you need to be naked. Under the nameless king arena, we find Ornstein's set. We know Ornstein was a loyal guardsman to the Firstborn and they had a strong relationship. "the Nameless King fought along side the storm drake" notice how it doesn't say ATOP. When the Firstborn absorbs the soul of the storm drake, it explodes into lightning, not fire, which is the element the storm drake uses. Anyway this isn't my theory, but I've seen a few people passing it around on reddit, and like I said, I'm not entirely sold by it, and it seems to be quite a stretch. What are your opinions on this?

Not possible. Ornstein obviously stayed loyal to Gwyn; the Nameless King was Gwyn's son who betrayed him and allied with the dragons.

Well actually we know Ornstein went to Archdragon Peak searching for the Firstborn. It's entirely possible.

yeah and if ornstein died then hes armor and weapon should be on corpse but theres no corpse we just found em like somone dropped em there so this theory makes sense

Searching for =/= Being

That's absurd. If anything the fact that we find his armour set on a corpse near his weapon stuck in a gate speaks of a Bad End for him in his search.
No we don't. His armors on the floor. Not on a corpse.

Except why the ♥♥♥♥ would he just transform into The Nameless King? The Nameless King is an established character seperate from Ornstein. It makes no sense whatsoever.

What? The King of the Storm is a dragon. Not the nameless king.

Wait - you guys think Ornstein IS THE DRAGON?

Bahahahah! That's even dumber!

I think you should re-read the thread. You may have gotten a few things wrong.

How? Armor on the floor. Close friendship with the nameless king. Path of the dragon has been succeeded before according to twinkling dragonite.

Because we know what true dragons are. They're not something you turn into. Proper dragons that Gwyn fought prior to DSI at least. No idea whatever is going on with Ocieros, but he is clearly not a "true" dragon but some abomination.

No, it is far more likely that as the Nameless King rebelled and sided with the dragon he formed a close kinship with one that allowed him to ride it into battle. An Eragon kind of deal, but not as bad of a movie.

Go and read the twinkling dragon stones again. They say that full transformatiom involves mimicing ancient dragon stature.

Go and read the Nameless King's "lore".

He sided with the dragons. It makes a helluva lot more sense that he befriended one of them and it allowed itself to serve as his mount.

Ornstein turning into the dragon... hahahaha....

Yeah. I got that. That didn't disprove anything I said. Also please explain why we find his armor there and why the Strom Drake's soul is electric.

I figured Ornstein died, and his spirit manifested as the Dragonslayer Armor.
