Why i think Ultra greatswords are useless now

In the previous games they had potential, obviously. But now using one ultimately means your death in every pvp fight against someone who knows what they're doing. Noob killer? Yes, very much so. Good against a fair fight/equal skill level or more? Hell no. Every single move you do with these weapons are EXTREMELY telegraphed and easier than pie to predict which makes these weapons very much parryable and easy to dodge. I honestly don't need to say more, the fact that these weapons are easy to dodge away from makes it ultimately impossible to win with one. Stick with the regular greatswords kids because the ultras are for PVE only.

PS: If you're a strict meta user, troll, or a cancerous fanboy please DO NOT waste everyones time and post here you will get ignored. This thread is mostly for people that carries with them a fair amount of intelligence and those who actually like to play the game right by trying out different things in the game instead of sticking with one weapon everyone uses just because everyone else uses them.

They didn't have potential against someone who would poise your attack to backstab/chainstab you to death.

They are usually just countered by rolling behind them as they attack and backstabbing which is another reason why ultras are pretty much bad in this game.

I almost always have an Astora Greatsword equipped, and it wins most of my duels. Unlocking tends to help me, and the rolling attacks are really good too.

I think they just require more skill to actually do great against faster weapons. It certainly is possible to win with one against a faster weapon.

The only way you can get bs from is if your dumbass spams r1 or charges attacks at close range.

There are so many mix up moves in any UGS moveset to be unpredictable in PvP. Just try doing the stomp a couple of times without the upward cut, then use it with the upward cut when the guy is near. 4 out of 5 times works on Dank Sword users.

Those weapons aren't what i'm talking about, i'm talking about the REAL ultras like the Lorians greatsword, Mornes great hammer, dragon tooth. Those weapons, the really big bulky ones that take about 5 seconds to swing.

While I'm on a default blue sentinel setup right now (there seems to be a trend in stat spreads among all in Knights Roster for some reason) I just got killed in 2 hits from a black Knight ultra great sword so I think they aren't useless. Their cheesey but their not really useless.

Those are heavy weapons in general, not UGS.

They were never any good in PvP against a skilled player.

Fortunately, most people you fight probably won't fall under that definition.
