Are Daggers Viable?
At +10 the Bandit's Knife does 140 base damage. That is pretty high for such a rediculously fast weapon. Is it worth upgrading daggers?

Nope. Only weapons with phantom range are viable.
I don't have much latency issues. Seriously though.

That is serious. Daggers are ♥♥♥♥, phantom range is key, dont get blinded by cherry picked pvp videos. Youre not gonna kill a good player with a dagger.
Daggers were pretty ok in Dark Souls 2 yano :P

For PVE?

Bandit knife is pretty great on anything that can bleed. It's actually beastly and a very effective weapon.

for PVP?
No. Even the quickstep ability is not a savior of this weapon against a human opponent. Firstly the weapon is not made for critical attacks, it doesn't have a decent amount of kick even with the hornet ring. The bleeding damage is it's best feature and you will have a very hard time bleeding out enemies with your short range. Many heavy weapons beat the bandit knife in range and damage, forcing you to quickstep into an attack to poke and then quickstep through the follow up swing. To win with the bandit knife you HAVE to put constant pressure on your opponent and be constantly attacking so you can build up the bleed.

It can be done, but it's very difficult. The range just is not your friend here.

Mixed responses.
I would avoid against using daggers. Yes they are fast, but they can be prone to be parried, yeah the dash art is pretty neat, but beware of R1 spammers if you are trying to go around them.
and if you try to chip their health away, itll make the fight last longer.

How is that mixed?

PvE yes, it's great
PvP No, its not effective and hard to win.

Warden Twinblades or Gottard Twinswords or the Estoc

Warden twinblades have combo attack that guarantees a bleed proc, which can take off around 800 damage to someone you hit with it.

The Gottards have an incredible moveset and a BEASTLY rolling attack poke that can chip away at an enemy. And by Chip I mean take off 200-300 damage per poke

The Estoc has great range and lunges and a stupid good R1

The cheese is great for the whine.

it's pretty fun in PvE, got all my achievements with this weapon as my main. add some bleed resin to it and you'll do some decent damage.

quite underwhelming in PvP.

How's the longsword do?

Straightswords are amazing. Use the Dark sword and bait folk into parrying and punish that. Everyone has the mindset where you are just gonna mash R1 but in reality you are playing with their simple knowledge of that.
If you dont want to look like a scrub, either use the Lothric straight sword with the Leo ring or use other swords, doesnt matter. (just dont use the astora straight sword)
