Dark Gem vs Sharp Gem + Dark Blade on my Longsword

So I was thinking, I'd like to try putting a dark gem on my Longsword, and then boosting faith and intellect. Are Dark Gems any good, and is faith and int scaling worth it?

Chaos and Dark are just as good as Lightning and Crystal infusions. They have less scaling because it's split in 2 stats but the damage should be high nonetheless.

My alternative is to leave my weapon as a sharp, and then just use the miracle Dark Blade

That is a good alternative of course but remember that buffs have a short duration and can be nullified by duel charms or simply disappear if you change weapon. Elemental infusions though are permanent at the cost of less physical damage.

Ah ok. I like the dark infusion a lot, so I'll probably roll with that at some point.

I suggest you to have both an infused longsword and a buffable one.

What do you mean? Once one is infused can you not buff it with spells?
Also, I want to make sure that I don't have too high a weight equipped. I'm gonna probably use the dancer's set so that I'm agile enough.
