Is it worth using Aldrich's soul for the Lifehunt Scythe?
In case I ever make a Dark Magics-Based build, I was wondering if it was a good spell to pick up.

Hmm... Alrighty, I'll grab it just in case I find it fun to use in the future

XD It's one of the strongest miracles you know. Does about as much 600~700 damage per hit at 300 spellbuff and both miracle rings. But it's real strength is the heal per hit which reduces any damage you take from trading with it. Makes fighting ultras and mob ganks a cakewalk if you get used to using it.

The only real downside is the huge stat investment and completing sirris' questline for her talisman to use it efficiently.

At least 80 points invested into int and faith separately up to either of their softcaps at 60 levels.

45 int / 60 fth and you've got enough for lightning arrow.

60 int / 45 fth you could try going for some sorceries.

TL;DR not like a longbow would do you any good ( . -.)

That spell is a meme. It isn't good for PvE and is awful for PvP.

Well, at 300 spellbuff and BOTH miracle rings, any spell will do insane damage. It's slower than lightning stake but does around half damage.

It's nice against dancer, tested myself.

Well, I'm assuming he's making a PvP build as he's using dark damage, and lifehunt scythe is slower than a 1 handed greathammer, so it can be roll backstabbed by a semi-decent player.

Yeah, you aren't wrong. However, if someone did happen to really want to play this in PvP, I would recommend playing as if you are a very reactive pickaxe user. Just my opinion.

True, however even when playing reactive it's really hard to punish with the lifehunt scythe.

I've tried the lifehunt scythe miracle for quite a while at pontiff and the results were good enough for me. Barring any truly competent player, Lifehunt Scythe was useful as a roll catch / Ultra greatsword noob stomper / decent anti gank tool.

As far as the 300 spell buff goes it's only possible to apply that with the sunless talisman or caitha's chime on miracles that are in the category of "dark" miracles. The best spellbuff any non dark miracle can get is from yorshka's chime at 263 spellbuff. It's an entire 30+ spellbuff away from lifehunt scythe. That makes up for how it doesn't have two hitboxes like the spear type miracles available. Also much better for trading hits since while spear miracles : Lightning stake / Lightning spear / sunlight spear / etc. do much more damage you take no less damage from the hit. So while lifehunt scythe may appear useless it's actually a lot less risky to use in 1v1's. I won't argue the lack of any significant combo potential since lifehunt scythe has no more range or speed than a Lightning Stake.

Truly an undervalued miracle.

if it's your main character it's good to pick up at least 1 copy of every spell anyways, to be able to test them all out and mess around endgame

not to mention the boss souls are essentially useless except for when used for transposing into boss weapons/spells.... might as well use them for that intended purpose

Yeah, I plan on at some point testing all the spells out in PVP and PVE. I like the idea of being able to steal health, so it was a spell that interested me
