Bow AR with a quality build question.
I'm considering to upgrade a bow for utility so I'm wondering about the AR I'll get from each at 40/40 STR/DEX.

So if you're at 40/40 STR/DEX and have a bow at +10, would you mind listing its AR for me?
I'm mainly interested in composite bow vs shortbow and longbow vs Pharris bow. I'm not really interested in greatbows.
Thanks

Pretty sure composite is the best short range and pharis the best long range for a quality build.

Take the composite bow i must say its the funniest bow and the best bow for pve and pvp o:
When you look for damage look at the Drangleic bow is slow but has decent damage.

You should stick to 27/40 due to the all-time twohanding-bonus. Unless you've the points to spare, of course.
Shortbows are a lot better than Longbows because of the great rolling attack.
Pharis' Bow's WA has sick homing abilities if you use it with Dark Arrows.
Don't underestimate Greatbows, they stagger everything and their mother and are really good for sniping.

I am almost certain that bows do not benefit from two-handing, at least they didn't in previous souls games.

Oh well seems as if you're right about that. I didn't do a Bow-playthrough, I just picked that info up at some point.
There's a thread on reddit from a dude who has done just that. His experience is nice to read through. link: https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/4ic0ih/what_ive_learned_from_my_ng_bowthrough/

the dragonrider bow for me has an "X" over it as i only have 18 strength to the needed 19, however as soon as i two-hand it's gone and i get my bonus damage back, same with the dragondlayer bow, so the benefits stand in darksouls 3

Yeah, I checked, with weapons the listed AR in the character screen increases when you two-hand it but not with bows.

Well that's odd

Well either way, I already am at 40/40 and I'm mostly interested in how does the bow AR compare to a crossbow's one since I already have a fully upgraded arbalest.

so to summerise you get an X if you don't have the stats, but if you have the twohanded strength stats needed the damage display will show up the same as when you two hand

yeah i'm not really sure on the crossbows aint really used, but they don't scale with your stats at all so you only do the raw damge + the bolt damage

Bows do way more damage than crossbows, crossbows get the advantage of a fast shoot if you have the weapon loaded, Invading some players with someone using the bow for support I could pretty much always shoot them first and cancel their shoots.

Crossbows are garbage because they've no scaling. They're good as a sidearm in PvP or in the veeery early game, but after that they're just way worse.

X means that you're not meeting the stat-requirements, Str in this case. Bows are the only class that doesn't get an AR-boost through virtually increased Str by twohanding, but the requirement to wield is affected.

Weird ♥♥♥♥. Typical From logic.
