everytime i quit dark souls 3 i get a black screen. i cant open task manager or anything. the only way to get around it is either set it to windowed mode or restart my pc when im stuck in black screen. the game runs perfect btw and i tried to set it windowed mode and it works fine when i close it, but i still want to play in full screen. help!

I have the exact same issue. The game gives me a black screen if i try to alt + tab, but if i tab back again, the alt tabbing works fine. This also works for the black screen when quitting, if i hav doen this before I try to quit. This is the only solution I have found at the moment.

do you think it has anything to do with the monitor? i recently just got a new 1440p monitor and thats when this black screen happened.

It could be. I have a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor.

Same exact problem here, using dual GTX 970s and an Acer XB270HU 1440p 144hz with Gsync.
Duke, how are you resolving it? Alt tabbing doesn't seem to work for me. I have to do a hard restart.

I confirmed that it was GSYNC that was causing the issue for me. Go into the Nvidia control panel and deactivate Gsync for DS3 and set it to fixed refresh rate.

Thanks for the solution. Been having the same issue but the monitor setting fixed it.

I tried DDU and reinstalled graphics driver, but that did nothing. So I ended up reinstalling the OS because of some other problems I was having. Now the problem seems to be gone, and the game is working properly with GSYNC on.

I was turning off Gsync for a while but forgetting about it for other games where it's needed, which became annoying. So I've since turned Gsync back on, and once the black screen happens, I simply unplug my monitor from my PC and plug it back in. Stupid workaround, but it's actually easier than turning Gsync off and on. For me, at least.

You can turn off gsync specifically for dark souls 3 from the nvidia control panel. Just select dark souls from the program list and set refresh rate to fixed.

Yeah I tried that at first, but it didn't work. Might be doing something wrong. Either way, I prefer my dumb workaround since you get to keep Gsync on in DSIII.

The issue returned tonight after I activated the "Share" feature in the geforce experience(the overlay). I deactivated it again and the problem disappeeared. It seems that it is conflicting with gsync and causing the screen to go black.
