Matchmaking (SL + WL) question

So if I've been going through the game, and putting a lot more effort into upgrading weapons than SL (Im at SL 65 with a +7 weapon) - does that really hinder your matchmaking? I can't find anyone to pve with. I know of the limits between SL and WL, but nobody ever talks about an ideal combo. Is there one. If you doing a Deprived SL1 runthough, and you've got an upgraded raw broadsword, your chances of matchmaking are incredibly slim. Is this correct?

I have significantly better luck on weekends, especially past the Farron Woods and after 120.
Working on a sunbro toon that is about 68/+6 currently if your around the prison or castle and need any help

There are some general levels and weapon upgrade levels you'd be at in various areas in NG.

High wall - level 1-20 and weapon level 0-2
Undead settlement - level 10-25 and weapon level 1-2
Crucifixion woods - Level 20-35 and weapon level 2-4
Cathedral of the deep - Same as crucifixion woods
Catacombs - Level 25-40 and weapon level 3-4
Smouldering lake - Level 30-40 and weapon level 3-6
Lower Irithyll - Level 40-50 and weapon level 4-6
Upper Irithyll - Any level and weapon level basically, this place is highly populated
Dungeons - Level 45-55 and weapon level 4-6
Profaned Capital - Level 50-60 and weapon level 5-7
Lothric castle - Level 55-70 and weapon level 6-8
Archives - Level 65-80 and weapon level 7-10
Archdragon peak - Level 60-80 and weapon level 6-10 (people come at a fairly large range of levels)
Great Belfry - Pretty much any level and weapon again, you sh0ould find a lot of cooperation for the nameless king here
Kiln - Level 70-90 and weapon level 8-10

That should be a fairly accurate estimation, I doubt it's perfect but that's what I'd base my level and weapon on for each area

Sounds about right, the ranges I put are about what I'd expect a normal person playing through to be at at that point, so if you go 10 levels above that you should be fine

The game "remembers" the highest weapon you've upgraded, even if you sell/trash it. So once you've made a +7 weapon, you can't ever drop back down to the +6 WL tier on that character; you're stuck invading people with +10.

Here's a rule to remember when matchmaking: 1 weapon level for every 10 soul levels will keep you on par with common matchmaking.

I usually do low level PvP. The forest, for example, is great if you are between level 20-30 and using a +2 or +3 weapon. For SL 60-ish, I don't think a lot of people are going to do a lot of PvP there, because it's so close to end game that you might as well level up to 75 and get a +10 weapon.

Pontiff gets a lot of action at a minimum SL 80 with a +10 weapon.

It really just depends on the area. I pretty much ALWAYS get invaded in Pontiff when I'm on my way to Aldrich, and I'm usually at SL 60-70 with a +9 or +10 weapon by that point.
