Crash On Startup
For some reason, Dark Souls 3 will no longer launch. It says I'm playing in my friends list for a brief moment, and then it stops. The program automatically crashes. Dark Souls 2 gets the "bad module has stopped working" along with this. These are the only two games.

I've tried scouring google and all the potential fixes it has, but nothing has come up.

Hello? Anyone?

Have you verify the game's integrity?

If I verify the game's files, and restart, I can start it up. But after that, it returns to doing the same things. Acting on that, I've tried to reinstall Steam, reinstall the game itself and a myriad of other things.

Did you change any settings in the game before it started crashing? did you update something recently like drivers?

Nope, haven't messed with the in game settings at all. And I updated my drivers recently, but that was to help and try to solve the problem, so I doubt it caused it lol. I'm just as stumped as you. Hoping I can fix it, but I won't hold out for it. Such a shame that I can put hundreds upon hundreds of hours in a game, only to have it break due to poor craftsmanship. No other games do this, just Fromsoftware's "games."

Try launching the game in windowed mode, go to:

C:\Users\"YourUserName"\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsIII

open GraphicsConfig and change

<config><ScreenMode>FULLSCREEN</ScreenMode>

to

<config><ScreenMode>WINDOW</ScreenMode>

You could also try changing the resolution that way, if that doesn't work, try deleting the GraphicsConfig file. The game should create a new one with default settings next time you launch the game.

Nope, that hasn't done anything. And the game hasn't replaced that file either. Steam tries to launch it, but something happens before it can even show up in Task Manager. Both Dark Souls games seem to have a life of their own, spontaneously deciding that it can't run anymore.

Does anyone know how to fix this? It'd be nice to be able to actually play games that I paid $120 for.

I'm having the same issue with my game, it'll start but it will crash as soon as i I launch a save and spawn in. Anytime I touch water. It's no fun and I'm hoping from software will put out a patch soon to fix this issue. I love the souls series so much, but the fact that it keeps crashing makes me not want to invest ANY more time or money into it. Bandai Namco or From Software, if you are reading this, please put out a patch to fix this issue.
