Sister Friede
That was ABSOLUTELY the best boss fight I've had in the whole series, including Demon souls. I died like 25 times, every attack was so epic (except the first phase, that's just boring and probably meant to peel some estus from the player before the real deal).

Seriously, 10/10 From for this DLC. Mazes, hard enemies, tough bosses cool AF weapons, slabs and every item can be picked from the ground (except armors, you need to loot some armor sets dammit).

Awesome. Period.

I run out of estus for the 3rd phase, on a new char though, sl60ish. Boss not bad.

What was your sl?

SL 60 too, I started this character yesterday around 7pm. It's an easy boss once you figure out the attack patterns, if you need help I can give you a few tips.

My only two complaints with this boss are three stages (Three! Goodbye, Estus. Goodbye, short-term pattern perfecting. I'd much rather fight all three stages separately with triple health.) and Friede's ranged area denial freeze attack.

That's the best part for me, at last a boss that's actually hard and not just following a pattern to cheese it. So far the only bosses that require some sort of thinking currently are the nameless king, champion gundyr, the dancer and the DLC boss, the rest are pure garbage and you roll until you can dump your stamina on their face.

Sorcerers don't even have to worry, they'll eventually kill all bosses from safety in 10 shots or less.

I agree. The boss fight in this DLC is one of the best in entire series. It's EPIC and you really have to know how to parry/backstab/dodge if you want to beat it. It's no cakewalk. Too bad this DLC doesn't have that many bosses though, 2 is a bit low :/

I'm fine with low quantity and high quality, wouldn't like to see another sunken crown dlc.

i agreee im currently getitng my ass beat by her and him and im getting some srious priscilla and lasy maria throwbacks if anyone has played bloodborne, i love the way slow ariandel and fast freide work together im getting destroyed but im having fun :D

Eh.

The fight's aight. I mean they just gave Priscilla Gherman's combos and Lady Maria's after-slash effects.

Boss is still parry bait. Second phase you can almost completely ignore Freide except to interrupt her healing and just wail on Father cause he's slow and stupid.

Otherwise.. Meh.

Glad you enjoyed it but personally I felt it wasn't anything special.

Just adding that first phase is clearly there to have you learn her patterns, since you'll need to know them for phases 2 and 3.

I have no criticism for this fight, it was very good mechanically and extremely good aesthetically. The animations are the best I've seen so far in these games (and I've recently also played bloodborn, still lacking demon's), the cutscenes were amazing, the music was also perfect.

You rarely see me so enthusiastic about a game.

To give you an idea of how challenging it has been (since I mentioned mechanics) I hadn't been playing since about 2 months after release. Took up my NG+ char at Pontiff, beat that to get the ropes again (took me 3 tries, I got the parries then) and jumped in the DLC with lvl 119 (quality build with infamous dark sword).

heyo! anyone know how you get the cutscene from the trailer of the big thing whipping itself? do i have to do the boss again after transposing the rose whip thing? (gonna guess somthings different)

I can't get the hang of first phase at all. She just doesn't have a consistent timer for the invisibility nonsense, so I'm just supposed to guess every time? I thought it's yawn, then a sound of steps, then scythe sound then I should roll. NOPE, sometimes she just yawns and instantly hits you after that. Is she designed to catch rolls too? I see her appear sometimes and she continues to run right into me as I react with a roll and catches it.

What I really hate about this though is that it poos all over my 60faith build. Can't buff between phases, no pause there, soon as the health bar is down the boss just falls over and instantly cutscene to begin the next one. No legit pauses between attacks to rebuff either. That and the invisibility crap wastes buff timer as I stand there waiting for her. Bring your quality build fast weapon and leave the fun stuff at home kids.

Friede is nightmare for Strength and heavy weapons in general.

Her frostbite, evasion, and in addition that your stamina is depleted so fast with str weapon and you can roll only like once, makes this boss bit stupid for str, imo

Best boss fight? Imo, no. It was good, but the fight is completely an endurance fight. 3 life bars, each phases being harder than the other. It's arguably the hardest boss in the game, but I don't attribute difficulty with fun-ness. It's similar to my feeling with nameless king. Only difference is the amount of endurance and the actual scope of the fight for nameless king was just better.

Yeah, she interrupts hyperarmor trade attempts ezpz too.
Is this chick input reading or something? She keeps doing these delays where she runs into me until I roll and catches it. Invisibility, yawn, steps, she appears, I react with a roll, she keeps running into me then punishes the roll.

Oh it becomes even worse at final phase. Sweet.
Ye I don't see this happening with an UGS. Phase3 just becomes full retardation.
