Oh, and FU FROM/Bandai. Your're dead to me now.
I also agree with the FU to FROM/Bandai above! I played this game years ago and randomly decided to buy the DLC and do a replay, since I never played the DLC. Only to get everything booted up and wonder why I can't login, then find out there's been literally months of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over some overhyped very situational barely used exploit that's been in their ♥♥♥♥ netcode for like a DECADE, with almost no update or estimate given on a fix... Really scummy, like EA levels of scummy.
Just imagine 30 years from now, you'll have a "retro gaming room" and play ds3 in a lan party with your friends :D
I understand the frustrations, but let's be real for a second. No company can keep "everyone" happy.
All we wanted was some communication and they have yet to deliver
What did happen though was blaming it on an exploit, which was understandable of course, but then leaving their playerbase in the dark for months while sending poorly worded and vague updates that clarified absolutely nothing -- for an issue that has essentially already been fixed twice if you consider both the Blue Sentinel mod and whatever inhouse fix they applied to Elden Ring.
And yeah, the issue is already fixed, but FROMsoftware can't simply copy the code from Blue Sentinel and call it day. Maybe they can unofficially use it as a reference, but there's all kinds of legal backfire that could happen. They can't take the risk of BL sueing over the code, even if they have no intentions too. I'm sure there's other reasons too.
I'm not entirely defending them, but i feel like when it comes to games in general, fanbases go too far. There are numerous stories, about fans going ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over nothing. Did you know that fans sent death threats over the new God of War game getting stalled back by like half a year? Well, it turned out that the main voice actor was having back surgery and other health issues, and the developers were kind enough to tell him to take all the time he needed, before they finished working on the game with him as Kratos.
There's all kinds of things we don't know about. Working on a big project always has its problems, especially when its a mainstream game. It sucks that they aren't vocal on the matter, but the fact is, they aren't required to report on even single little thing they do. Especially when it comes to their really old IP's. Most of their manpower is probably devoted to patching Elden Ring, and making new content for that.
