Why does bandai namco hate pc gamers?
So Dark Souls III has been $59.99 on steam when it isn't on sale for a while now and there hasn't ever been a permanent price drop for ds3 on pc, but there has been on consoles. On bandai namcos website, dark souls 3 on xbox one and ps4 without dlc are selling for $29.95 when not on sale and with dlc, the console versions are $39.95. Meanwhile ds3 on pc is still 59.99 and with dlc is $84.99. This isn't just dark souls 3 either. Dark souls 2 has it much worse. SOTFS pc is actually more expensive on namcos website than on steam and SOTFS is $20 on consoles when not on sale.

I wouldn't care about this if these were gamestop or any other stores prices, but this is on the publishers own website. It's really bizarre how the pc versions of these games are considerably more expensive even on sales when compared with the console versions. I don't understand why bandai namco wouldn't drop the prices across all platforms including pc rather than excluding pc.

Maybe I'm just repeating something people have known forever but I just wanted to point this out because it's been bothering me for a while.

Maybe it's because there are less sales for PC then for the consoles, so they have to keep the price up to still make some profit with the game. I could imagine that 70% of the players are on consoles and in the origin county of bandai namco, japan, playstation is by far the most used plattform. The japanese publishers are always much more focused on the console version and Dark Souls is not the only game where you will notice this. At least the game ist running and stable, not like most other games from bandai namco on steam. Just look at the PC port of Nier Automata. The game has won multiple prices and still you cant play it in full HD on steam without a bugfix made by the community. So unless more people start playing games from japanese devolopers on PC there is no change in sight.

But even on sales the console versions are considerably cheaper, like this week, ds3 on pc is still double the price of the console verison when both versions are on sale.

I dont know... maybe because bandai was heavily sponsored by sony.(all japan publishers)...sony super hates steam so they tend to do some agreement with the developer/publishers to not cut the price or released a bad optimazation on ateam.. but this is just my opinion :)

See it that way: ps4 version per day - 100 pieces for 40$. Now if they reduce the price to lets say 20$ more people will consider buying it so its 300 for 20$ = more profit for them

Now the PC version: PC version per day - 10 pieces for 60$. Now if they would reduce the price in the same way to 30$ and there are still less people who look out for the pc version its 15 for 30$. So this would mean the start to loose money.

Its all as simple as that.

Bandai Namco has always put console first to my knowledge. Once a games on PC, they don't bother keeping track of it.

I'm still shocked that PC even got titles like Xenoverse and the upcoming Soul Calibur.

XBOX is a console like ps4. Its easier to handle so more people have a console. I said everything needed to say above.

The question you should ask your self is do i want any more games from FromSoftware or a cheap game. Id rather buy 5 more Souls games for 60$ than the last one ever for 20$. The world is about money and they need that ♥♥♥♥ to make the games we all love. Dont blame Bandai for how the world works and that they want to make money out of their product. They have to eat, drink and pay bills like you and me.
