Siegward of Catarina Questline (PS4)

Got a small issue with the questline with ole Siegward.
I followed the guide on the wiki pretty well. It wasn't until I got to Irithyll that I was having a little bit of trouble.

When I found Siegward in the kitchen, I just kind of ignored him. I didn't drink the Estus Soup and I didn't converse with him, either. I just sort of ran past him. I went on to finish off Pontiff Sulyvahn and up into Anor Londo to kill Aldrich. I rested at both of their bonfires and went back to Firelink several times. When I went back to Firelink after beating Sulyvahn, Greirat was alive and well, and mentioned the "onion knight fellow" saving him.
I never went to the bonfire after the lake, the one before the dungeon.
I warped back to the Church of Yorshka bonfire and took the shortcuts around to get back to the kitchen, where Siegward was still taking a nap. This time, I approached him and talked through his lines with him, and got the Toast! gesture and the mug.

Fast forward to the Profaned Capital bonfire. I didn't go to Yhorm right away, I explored greatly before I even thought about approaching the fog. I followed the wiki down to Siegward in the cell, where I found I didn't have the Old Cell key. I went back up into the Dungeon, retrieved it, and came back down to go unlock his cell. I talked through all of his dialouge, in which he gave me the Titanite Slab and told me to go ahead, he had something he needed to do.

Enter Yhorm the Giant. When I warped back to the Profaned bonfire, I sped down the broken part of the bridge and up the stairs, straight to the fog gate.
I've read that a cutscene is supposed to engage where Siegward appears with the second Storm Ruler, and he helps out in this fight as himself, not a phantom.

None of that happened for me.
I just walked through the fog gate and was greeted by a yelling, angry giant. He attacked me numerous times and I wandered the boss arena for a while trying to trigger something, but nothing helped out. Every time I walk in the stadium, I get no cutscene, no assistance, and I die.

Any advice???

did you happen to trigger the boss fight before you unlocked his cell ?

I did not go through the fog gate before I unlocked his cell, no.
I'm stumped. It's not horrible, but it's still a bummer I couldn't finish his questline.

Happened to me too. I didnt fight the fire demon with him at undead settlement.

Triggering Siegward to help with the giant, is to help him fight the fire demon at the Undead Settlement. If that task is missed, he will not appear at Yhorm's hide-out. What I did, was ask for help on Steam to fight that boss -someone who already has the storm ruler is preferable. Apart from missing out from Siegward's help in that fight, when you reload the boss area (after beating the giant ) you'll find Siegward's attire and storm ruler near the fog door. At least it appeared there for me.

When you first encounter Seigward in the game, after he comes up the lift speak to him. Then you need activate it but not stand on it, letting it go down, giving you access to another platform allowing you to reach the top part. On your way back down from the top of the tower, jump halfway off onto a ledge and follow the path until you find Seigward sitting there. Then he aids you, just don't let him die in the fight so you can continue his questline. For your next run I guess

Why ask for help when you can get a storm ruler and cheese the crap out of him?
