Game sucks due to stupid camera controlls
Hi,

I use an Xbox 360 controller and normally when i play games the camera follows the direction my character is pointing at. For example, when i turn, the camera turns with me. But not in DS 3. The camera only moves sideways but as soon as i turn i face my back because the camera does not turn with me?

I tried all kinds of settings, camera lock on/off, camera reset on/off etc. Nothing works. In Skyrim or GTA you can adjust the settings so the camera points at the direction you're facing. But apparently thats not the case here.

Please help.

To be frank this is not the kind of game you want to have an auto adjusting camera. I found dark souls 1 to be strange just like you described, but trust me the game is much better the way it is.

You sure must be new to the soul series, also the cam won't follow you with any setting if you want to face what's in front of your character you should press the right analog stick and it will do (You have to do it everytime tho) there is another way but just when you want to fight someone, just press the right analog stick and your character will lock on the enermy

Also never ask the ds3 community to help bcs most of the times the only thing you'll get are: "Git gud scrub" or "What r u casul?"

Not true, but when something as basic as camera control is brought up its laughable.

Thanks, so if i understand you correctly I will have to continue to play the game with both sticks in regard to keeping my POV in line with the POV of my character?

More or less yes. Also, if you press in on the Right Stick, it centers your camera to where your character is facing. It also locks on to enemies.

To be honest though, the DS3 camera is the best (imo) out of all the Dark Souls games. DS1 was very clunky and the camera was a pain some times. DS2 the camera was very floaty and felt off at times. DS3 seems to have the best camera so far.

Dark souls is a game where you need to constantly keep your eyes on the enemy. There's a reason why they mapped the attacks to the triggers and shoulder buttons. The controller is meant to be used almost as if you're playing a first-person game. It's something that might take getting used to for you, but once you understand it, it's INCREDIBLY useful.

For now though, you shouldn't play dark souls yet if you aren't good at the control scheme. Play skyrim with an unlocked camera for a while until you get used to it. Then come back to dark souls.

When you do come back, Good luck. Remember that although dying is part of the game, and it's meant to be difficult, ALWAYS try different approaches if something seems impossible. Or turn around and go a different direction for a while. You can always come back later when you're stronger. I finished dark souls 2 in 60 hours and 640 deaths, and I will likely die more in dark souls 3. Just so you know what you're getting into.

What you REALLY want in souls games is that every "automatic" setting is turned off.

You can thank me later.

Inplizard has been a member of the community for a very long time. Also, why turn the camera around if you don't want to look behind you? Just move the camera back around. What a difficult task. Complaining about trolling while posting clickbait garbage.

Maybe asking a genuine question is clickbait garbage to you, but there are people here who really need help with things like this. So if you don't have anything positive to contribute then put a sock in it.

No. You using a clickbait title is clickbait. I can't put a sock in it, because I'm a skeleton.

Well at least you got a good sense of humor :-)

But really, which part of my title is clickbait according to you?

The part where you make an outlandish and easily flamey remark within the first two words.
