You dont NEED to play either games before this but its nice playing DS1 first.
DS2 isnt really connected at all storywise. I personally like DS3 best.

I got DS2 and DS3 for over 50% off on some keycode sites. DS1 is only like 10% off so im waiting on that one. Played them all on my xbox and slowly getting them onto my steam.

That's a weird statement. So it doesn't matter if I play DS1 or DS2, I NEED to play one of them before playing DS3? Why?

Also I own DS2: Scholar of first sin on my steam apparently, should I play that?

Whats the difference between DS2 normal and DS2 first sin?

No. I stated that you dont need to play either 1 or 2 before 3. The stories are only loosely connected. But you do see some similar stuff in DS1 and DS3. So its nice to play those in order but you do not need to.

ds2 first sin is just all the DLCS added on.

I see I see. I think I'll just give a go at 2, and if 3 gets a good sale I'll play that since it has nicer graphics. Thanks!

DS2 is hit or miss for most people.
I played 1 and 3, and loved them both so much.
Tried 2 and couldnt get into it. Loved the areas and weapons though. Recently bought it for steam, so I am going to re-try it but lots and lots of Souls lovers do not like DS2. And then there are some people who find DS2 the best.

I think I'll wait for DS1 or DS3 then until it's on sale, would rather take the safe route. Thanks for the tips!

No problem. Id even suggest a guide for DS1. I got so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lost and still loved it with a guide. DS3 is a little more linear.

DS1 and DS3 are both equally great. DS1 is probably more accessible for new players since the combat is slower. The story of the games aren't connected except for a few references to previous games in the sequels

Play DS1 first. Its a masterpiece and if you play first DS3, being a newer game, better graphics, more fluid movements...will be hard to enjoy your DS1 experience completely because will be a step behind.

In terms of story, they are different, (but connected) so you can play any of them without problem.

Scholar of the first sin has a couple of modifications compared to regular 2, a few items moved for example but for the most part it's the same game.

Loved it too. Until I hit the pendulums in Sen's Fortress. Never could get through the second set. Have both ptd and remastered. On the shelf, both. Very sad.
