Boreal Knight in the Grand Archives...
What is your method for killing that ice knight on steroids? In EVERY playthrough of mine, no matter how good I've gotten at DS3, that enemy gives me a lot of trouble. I almost died to him just now because it's so hard to keep up with his attacks. I got two hits on him (it's a strength build with a +10 Heavy Greatsword) and then the rest of my time was spent getting stunlocked, frostbitten (even though I have the frostbite resist ring on), and running away...lol. I think whoever made these Boreal Knights so aggressive is cruel and insane.

4. Also you can easy kill him with a bow from a stepladder there

Wow. The servers going offline has really affected some of you badly. I hope you don't go hollow, but from the look of your post, you might already be on your way.

Panic roll and equip a fast weapon for it.

Supposedly all the Boreal Knights have a pattern to swing twice then pause, but I swear the Pontiff spread this lie around Lordran just to get us.

Sounds about right. Unfortunately I don't have a fast weapon. Miyazaki developed some sort of hate for slow heavy weapons when he made DS3. Heavy armor strength builds got the axe...so to speak, and I hate Miyazaki for that.

Also lol at the pattern comment. I agree. There's no totally safe time for us to attack Boreal Knights. They have no downtime for their attacks. It's just an endless flurry of frost and death. I wish it was possible to one-shot them with a sorcery or pyromancy. That would be really satisfying. They have way too much health though.

They're parriable but I've barely ever landed it. The attacks are just so quick and their moveset feels enormous so I've never really tried to get the hang of it.

Last time I was fighting the rapier one in the basement I stg the dude movecanceled his big standing overhead into a ground swing instantly. Just when I thought that the big move gives a brief pause, he just goes "Nah" and flips around and keeps swinging.

Jeez. Even landing a successful parry on one of these Boreal Knights sounds terrifying. The fast reflexes you would need to be able to do that. I can parry a lot of enemies in Dark Souls 2 (and Dark Souls 1, but DS1 parrying is way too easy) but I rarely parry enemies in DS3. Actually in my current playthrough the only enemies I've parried were npc invaders and human npc enemies (like the Drang Knights after Pontiff), because they're a little bit predictable.

And yeah, that doesn't surprise me that one of them would cancel a big "slow" attack to start swinging all crazily, lol. Boreal Knights are absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nuts.

Stepladder cheese? I'll have to check that out I guess. Thanks.

Update: I just cheesed him from that stepladder! I'm surprised that worked. I aggro'd him to the stepladder, got on top of the ladder, shot him, then he would try and attack me at the base of the lader but give up after a few tries, and then I repeat the process all over. I'm going to do that every playthrough now. Thank you for posting that 👍.

Yeah I actually just found it a few minutes ago, I just took awhile to write my other reply (above this one). That really helped me out.

Boreal Outrider Knights are extremely aggressive -- He does not give you any safe windows to heal, and trying to do so will send you into a short downward spiral of failing to gain a net profit on HP.

Stay on his back and keep your proverbial trigger finger at the ready to evade toward his backside with every swing, and punish during animation recoveries. Basic fundamental Dark Souls, but taken up a notch to a rapid pace.

Just dodge until an opening forms, they have really obvious attack patterns and always give you a small window to land one or two hits.

You basically need to eat a green blossom and strictly concentrate on reaction dodging them until they finally allow you to get in a swing. Rinse and repeat until dead. It's basically like a mini boss similar to the fight style of Prince Lothric, just not as long, thankfully.
how has anyone not replied git gud till now
