can someone tell me how to get a mimic hat

"Mimics can also "drop" the Symbol of Avarice (the item will appear in its mouth and be normally lootable) when throwing an Undead Hunter Charm at them, so the item can be easily and safely farmed without killing the Mimic. Each time a Mimic chest is put to sleep by the Undead Hunter's Charm it counts as a separate roll, so you do not need to rest at a bonfire each time and it is affected by Item Discovery. If nothing is dropped, you can also hit it once (be aware of damage) and it will reset faster."

Keep throwing Lloyd's at them. Equip and/or use any item discovery boosting items beforehand. Every time a mimic opens from a Lloyd's is a potential Symbol of Avarice drop. As long as there's at least one left alive in the game you technically have infinite rolls on that loot drop. That's why most of my characters have multiple Symbols.

High Lucky is needed to make it drop the hat, items that increase the lucky (sword, coins and ring) will help a lot.

High luck is not mandatory but ofcourse it helps. My newest toon got the hat from the first mimic at high wall. You can also farm it by using talisman on the mimic several times, there is youtube videos about it.
