Problems with PS4 controller
Hi, ive decided i wanted to try Dark Souls 3. But my first impression is kinda lackluster. It says full controller support on the game page. But when i start the game, the controller doesnt work in the menu. After i spawn in the camera starts spinning infinitely. I can move the character, but nothing else works. The only other buttons that work is: L1, L2, R1 and R2. These change how the camera spins. Any suggestions to what might be wrong? The controller works fine with other games such as Rocket League, Overcooked etc.

Hey! Dark souls doesn't like PS4 controllers and still has xbox buttons show up no matter what. many of us use http://ds4windows.com/ which makes the game think you're using an xbox controller.
I've never had problems with it, and it supports motion control too so you could play games like BOTW with motion support.

Pretty easy to use and lets you change your light color as well

Do i just download the software or does it need some kind of configuration?

Download, extract, launch, connect

You can remap controls if you want, but for default gameplay, its just connect and go

I use a wired nacon controller for PS4. I just plug in the USB cable and start playing; no extra drivers/software required. I previously used a wireless Logitech controller; just plug and play. Maybe the problem has to do with the PS4 controller as designed/manufactured/produced by Sony. The xbox button prompts do not bother me at all. If you have been playing the game for a few hours, you should be familiar with which button to press for which action.

The first time I tried my ps4 controller, it was all wacked out. Just moving the controller made it act like a mouse, and the camera spun WAY too fast.

Steam implemented full support for ps4 controllers a while back. They have an excellent tool on calibrating ps4 controllers. It took me a while to get it dialed in, but it worked perfectly once I did. There's prolly a YT vid on it.

Did you do the Steam controller configuration? The DS4 has a gyroscope in there, that's causing the camera movements, I usually just alt-tab out and back in when that happen to clear it, since my Steam controller config is empty for the gyroscope. Other than that, no other problems, no other driver or software other than Steam.

Hi, i have resolved this issue. I opened Steams very own controller configuration menu on the library page of the game, which i didnt even know existed. Lmao
