Penalized for Cinders mod
I have tried Cinders mod, played in 'offline mode' and even made sure network features are disabled in the .dll. In the end (after beating the first boss and encountering tons of merchants at the start) I didn't like it and uninstalled both the mod and the whole game (removed the folder in steamapps/common), then reinstalled the game. When I launched the new instance of the game and made a new character I turned my status to 'online' again. When I quit the game to the main menu I got a notice I got penalized for meddling with the files and my online got restricted.
I'm pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mad. I was extra careful so this didn't happen and yet it did. I wonder if there's anything I can do to lift the restrictions? I know it sounds like excuses, but I was just curious about a mod to refresh my DS3 experience - I didn't cheat or hack (even although I can't prove it).
Also let this be a cautionary tale for people willing to try community acclaimed mods for themselves - it's not worth it in my opinion.

1. You can google the answer, contact Namco, explain what happened and hope for the best.
2. You should have delete save files as well
3. You should have forced other people NG cycles to avoid ban, lol.

You can contact bandai support about it and they'll probably unban your account.

If you don't want to be banned for trying mods I recommend you use an alt acount with family share for this.

Also, did you remember to delete the save game data? if you have a cinders character in your saves when you go online this will also trigger a flag for ban even if you uninstalled both the game and the mod.

I must admit when I wanted to delete the Cinders character I entered the game on it on accident (I use a PS4 gamepad and the prompt said "press X to delete save", but it was referencing the Xbox gamepad "X" which is square on the Dualshock). Now that I think about it this was probably what doomed me - I should've deleted the character before turning online on on the clean install. I quit immidiately of course but maybe that was enough to flag me. Also I've searched My documents for Dark Souls III folders, but didn't find any so I thought I'm clear.

I did contat Bamco customer support, however I need to play for 3 weeks on a 'clean account' to even appeal the ban. I also asked them where could any leftover files from Cinders be hiding (if there are any).

Make a family shared account, play it on this one, main account is safe.

I did a Randomizer Mod, got banned for it, got it sorted out.

Dont use mods
Dont back up your safe and reuse them if you reinstall your PC, told me the actual Support.

If you get in with a cheater, dont pick up any item.
