Torrent and mods?

I'm thinking about trying a mod. But I don't want to get banned for it. What if I delete the game, download it from torrent, play it with the mod. Would i get banned if i delete the modded character when I re-download it from steam, without deleting my main character? I'm already on ng+3. I don't want to delete this character.

im not sure but i think you can corrupt the file

Create an alternate steam account and family share to it if you're planning on using mods. I use mod engine which creates an alternate save file and blocks network access while active but I still use an alt account to be on the safe side.
