Does sorcerer need faith?
To all sorc knowledgeable players, does my sorc need to bump up my faith skill?

Faith is used on miracles, you don't need it for pyromanices or sorceries, only miracles, intelligence is for sorceries, and dexterity is for pyromancie.

no sir unless you are going to make a dark build later. then you would want some of the dark miracles which are faith based, and the pyromancies which are both based on faith and intelligence. But for the most part pure sorcerers wont need faith. That being said: having 10 faith and the priestess ring allows you to cast Tears of Denial which is a good miracle to have. Something to keep in mind.

pyromancies scale off of faith and intelligence.

Right now my sorc is level 34 with harrowing of 4. And I found this nice Saints Talisman, which I could use if I have lvl 16 faith. I am not sure if that is better that my regular talisman for healing, healling myself at least.
And I did saw some phantom use these huge dark bubbles against the dancer. Is that a dark miracle or dark sorc? It worked so well against the dancer and Im planning to have that power. But im not sure if thats the dark miracle that requires more faith level.

Hex spells need faith stats but other ordinary magics nope

There are very well some dark sorceries. Deep soul, great deep soul, affinity, dark edge, great souls dregs. Besides intelligence, they also need up to 40 faith to be able to cast them at all or more to cause more damage.

Here the Izalith staff or Murky longstaff also helps a lot. As a special Dark mage build, or just to switch in combat.

Ps: The black bubbles were probably black fire orbs. A pyromancy. Pyromancers inherently need intelligence and faith. Dancer is weak against dark.

wow now i need to choose well which path to take... so a sorc can go dark but i have to up my faith, or just go pure sorc that needs just intelligence? what kind of magic does pure intelligence sorc have? And intelligence sorc is called a light magic sorc or something like that i guess?

if you want pure 66 intelligence sorcery then your best spells will be (not in order) crystal soulmass, crystal soul spear, farron flash sword, soul greatsword, and if you decide to use a buffable weapon and not moonlight greatsword then crystal magic weapon. there are others that can be used effectively for whatever combos, but the strongest hitting is definitely homing crystal soulmass and crystal soul spear together. i have 1 shot many unsuspecting foes with that. keep in mind that most pure sorcerers are squishy as you have to level dex and intelligence as well as vigor (dex for casting speed) and typically have either light or no armor because of the lack of carryweight from leveling the other stats. if you use crown of dusk and the magic clutch ring as well as the prisoners chain, you can be easily 1 shot by heavy weapons and dark spellswords.

that would be great soul dregs. they are very effective on dancer, its a dark sorcery found in the dreg heap in the ringed city dlc. they are good in general bc of their amazing tracking and relatively low mp consumption.

So I chose this crystal sage rapier over over crystail hail, from Ludleth of corland. is that rapier ok? Its got a 82 +17 magic, does that mean it gives my magic attacks more power or just adds magic attack on the sword itself only? and whats this +17 attached to the weapons?

The magic is just damage from the sword, it doesn't apply to your spells. It means the sword does 82 physical damage, and 17 magical damage on top of it
You'll need 12 faith if you want to use the Immolation Tinder, but I really don't think it's anywhere near necessary

The Crystal Sage's Rapier deals damage of two types; thrust and magic. You're looking at the magic damage. Its only secondary effect is to increase your item discovery stat (i.e. item drop rate).

The added values to the right of a weapon's base damage indicate how much of the weapon's AR comes from your character's stats. You'll see (some of) them turned into subtractions if you try to use a weapon you don't have the stats for

CSR's base damages are 55 physical and 82 magic. You have no idea what you're talking about

Congratulations on googling the wiki page, it must've been really hard to do that, but the point was that's how the damage works, not the precise numbers

...except you stated that the weapon's base magic damage was its physical damage and that the magic damage conferred by OP's intelligence was its actual magic damage. You weren't right about the mechanics in the first place
