I found the most Badass character in all of Dark Souls

I know we have lore-based badasses like Artorias, but for the first time, I saw an NPC put his money where his mouth was.

So who is the most badass NPC in all of Dark Souls? It's Holy Knight Hodrick.

We all know him (SPOILER ALERT) as the guy who is in charge of the mound makers (sort of) and for many of us, the first person to invade. He's not that hard to beat, BUT!

Did you summon him on the road of sacrifices? I did...

For a moment, I had thought that it was a human player cosplaying Hodrick, but that thought was put to rest upon seeing how a 400 dmg attack only took a sliver of health away from him. I myself was low on health... and I ran, and like the Gunslinger, he pursued.

As I ran around the map, Holy Knight Hodrick proceeded to kill:

SIX Lycanthrope Hunters, in two groups of three.
TWO Lycanthropes, at the same time
Yellowfinger Heysel
An invading HUMAN player
two giant crabs, one after the other
and the two exiles, at the same time

When it came time for my ass to be pulverized by his thrusting manhood, I was only able to defend myself by throwing an Undead hunter charm, which ulrimatly led to Hodrick using his estas, time and time again, but to no avail. Resulting in me killing him after the sixth consecutive backstab.

Your opinions may differ, but for me, there is no doubt: Holy Knight Hodrick is the H.A.M NPC in all of the Dark Souls universe.

hmmm I remember summoning him once in the road of sacrifice, but the guy that invaded me just killed him while I was doing something else. he was a nice distraction though!

you know... not related to the topic, maybe a bit since it's about a NPC, but the crestfallen, the one that deserted the farron legion... that guy is way stronger than his late comrades (and shorter as well... is that why he deserted?). and he can use estus! why can't the warrior from farron legion use estus? aren't they undead as well?

i had no problem killing him but yeah, i like him a lot. love how he would let u join mound maker, and freaking invade u few minutes later.

then he put white sign down at road o sacrifice, then tries to kill u again.

truly the symbol of mound maker.

Most boss enemies are over-sized because... reasons. Probably sucked a lot of souls.
Maybe not all undead have estus flask with them? It's not like it's given to them. In Dark Souls 1 and 2 it's given to you later in the game, in Dark Souls 3 it's apparently was with you inside your grave.
Either undead legion were not so lucky, or they forbid such a dishonorable practice or they simply forgot with being corrupted by the Abyss and all.
The guy isn't that much stronger than them, it's just he uses PvP mechanics such as locking you into 2-hit combo, something that bosses don't have. He also doesn't have an epic moveset of leaps and break-dances.
Also he might've not became the real Abyss Watcher. Maybe he still was in training and didn't got his share of Wolf's Blood?
