There's this thing called dunning-kruger effect, where people aren't knowledgable or competent enough to know that they AREN'T knowledgable or competent.
Chances are, if the person has better gear then you but are trash at the game, skill can more then make up that difference. Because these people mistakenly think that gear is all that matters in pvp, or in other words, they are too incompetent to realize they are incompetent.
The biggest issue is skilled pvp players going to the start zone because that is the zone where new players are most likely to be playing. New players are highly likely to be bad at pvp, so someone with a lick of pvp sense can take decent gear and just go to town. However, these people are also very likely to lose to someone who knows how to pvp effectively because skill can overcome gear.
This is very much a situation where someone who uses poop and firebombs can naked dagger against a heavy hyperarmor greatsword riposte spammer and see success. How many of us have fought against a nude man with a club and gotten just absolutely demolished because they have superhuman reflexes and genius level knowledge of the games mechanics?
So again, twinking isn't the problem. Its smurfing. And honest merchant is essentially cheating.
This is not CS GO where skill is the reason to win or lose, this is a ACTION-RPG and being a RPG items also counts. He had more HP and Stamina than me even though we should be at the same moment in the game, why? Because of rings that he has access with honest merchant, this gives him an advantage and like I said we had almost the same skill, me being a little better, he almost won because of items, plain and simple - because I don't know how to punish estus and he also didn't know.
According to 7.3 of the EULA Honest Merchant is cheating. Listen, don't try to sugar coat it. No one cares if you're cheating but be real with yourself. If you use a mod that gives you an unfair advantage then yes you're a cheater and most likely unskilled at the game.
Besides, equipping the "best" gear right off the bat won't make someone suddenly a good player.
No, you got confused the original comment was about me invading the other comment was about a guy that invaded me.
Happened again, level 25 Forest, I got the invader to 100 hp but the guy had the max estus flask, one chug and he got to full hp whilst I have only +1, at this point I'll just run towards a boss fog because those players are actually quite bad at invading so they don't catch me.
You guys really don't have any shame.
